RedeemRound 2 MBA Deadlines for January 2027: Dates and Cutoff Times for 16 Top Schools

Most top MBA programs close Round 2 between January 4 and January 7, 2027. Michigan Ross is first, on January 4. Harvard, Wharton, Columbia, Tuck, Duke Fuqua and Cornell all close on January 5. MIT Sloan follows on January 12 and NYU Stern on January 15. Cutoff times differ too: Harvard closes at noon Eastern, so read the table below closely.
Round 2 deadlines for fall 2027 entry
We read every date below on each school's own site on October 30, 2026. Each school name links to that page. All rounds, under each name, opens the school’s page on Beat The GMAT, which lists every round with the days left. Not listed means the page we read gives no time or date, so check with the school.
| School | Round 2 deadline | Cutoff time | Decision by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Michigan Ross All rounds | Mon, Jan 4 | 11:59 pm ET | Mar 19 |
| Harvard Business School All rounds | Tue, Jan 5 | 12:00 pm ET | Mar 25 |
| Wharton All rounds | Tue, Jan 5 | 5:00 pm ET | Mar 31 |
| Dartmouth Tuck All rounds | Tue, Jan 5 | 5:00 pm ET | Mar 18 |
| Duke Fuqua All rounds | Tue, Jan 5 | Not listed | Mar 11 |
| Columbia All rounds | Tue, Jan 5 | Not listed | Not listed |
| Cornell Johnson All rounds | Tue, Jan 5 | Not listed | Not listed |
| Stanford GSB All rounds | Wed, Jan 6 | 4:00 pm PT | Apr 1 |
| Kellogg All rounds | Wed, Jan 6 | Not listed | Mar 24 |
| Yale SOM All rounds | Wed, Jan 6 | Not listed | Mar 18 |
| UCLA Anderson All rounds | Wed, Jan 6 | Not listed | Mar 26 |
| Chicago Booth All rounds | Thu, Jan 7 | 11:59 pm CT | Mar 25 |
| Berkeley Haas All rounds | Thu, Jan 7 | Not listed | Mar 25 |
| UVA Darden All rounds | Thu, Jan 7 | Not listed | Mar 17 |
| MIT Sloan All rounds | Tue, Jan 12 | 3:00 pm ET | Early April |
| NYU Stern All rounds | Fri, Jan 15 | 11:59 pm ET | Apr 1 |
Two notes on that table. NYU Stern has four deadlines, and January 15 is its third. Stern reads applications as they arrive, so it tells you to submit once yours is ready, and April 1 is the latest you hear a first answer. Columbia also has a January 2027 start, but its deadlines have already passed. The January 5 date is for August 2027 entry.
Three mistakes these dates can cause
Missing a daytime cutoff. Harvard closes at noon Eastern, not midnight. Here is what that means in other places in January: 9:00 am in San Francisco, 5:00 pm in London, 10:30 pm in Mumbai. Stanford's 4:00 pm Pacific is 7:00 pm Eastern. MIT Sloan's 3:00 pm Eastern is noon in San Francisco. Write your own deadline as the day before.
Thinking there is a Round 3. Harvard says applications that arrive after Round 2 will not be considered. MIT Sloan lists only two rounds on its page. For these two schools, January is the last chance this cycle. The 2+2 program at Harvard and the LGO program at MIT have their own separate rules.
Assuming Round 3 is just as good elsewhere. Other schools do run a Round 3, but GMAC says it usually does not recommend it unless your application is unusual, because many schools have nearly filled their classes by then. Stanford says Round 1 and Round 2 carry some advantages. Duke Fuqua tells international applicants to apply by Round 2 for visa timing.
When your test score has to be ready
- Harvard: you must take the GMAT or GRE by the deadline.
- Wharton: for Round 2, your test date must fall between January 5, 2022 and January 5, 2027.
- Stanford: take your test several weeks early. Score reports can take one to three weeks, and it will not grant an interview without a valid score.
- Booth, Wharton, Tuck and Fuqua: you can enter your own score on the application, and they ask for the official report only if you are admitted.
- Booth, Kellogg and Tuck: none accept the GMAT Superscore, so your best single test is the one that counts. Our score guide explains the Superscore.
GMAC advises testing at least four weeks before a deadline. For January 5, that means December 8, 2026. A GMAT retake needs a 16-day wait, so the earliest second try after December 8 is December 24. Official reports usually take 3 to 5 days.
What happens after you submit
Round 2 decisions land from mid-March to early April. Duke Fuqua is the quickest on this list, at March 11, and MIT Sloan is among the last, in early April. Interview invitations come first: Fuqua sends its answers by February 11, and Wharton sends invitations on February 19. Keep February open.
If you get an offer, a deposit comes due soon after: April 19 at Tuck, April 23 at Fuqua and April 29 at Wharton. Line those dates up against your other schools before you pay, because a deposit can fall due before another school's answer comes.
A countdown from today
From October 30 to January 5 is 67 days. This is our suggested schedule, not a school rule. Shift it by a day or two for your own deadline.
- By November 6: choose your schools and ask your recommenders. Give them a December 18 due date, which is earlier than the real one.
- By November 22: finish first drafts of all essays and your resume.
- By December 8: take your test.
- By December 18: final essays, and recommendations in.
- By December 28: submit. That leaves more than a week for a retake score, a website problem or a late recommender.
