The GMAT is adaptive: each right answer brings a harder question, and right answers on hard questions raise your score most. So every section counts your right answers at each level. A forum question gets its level from how many members get it right, once 3 have answered.

Every topic the GMAT Focus Edition tests, one a day, in an order that builds on itself. Open any day to see what is in it. Days 1 to 3 are open to everyone; your email opens the rest.
Plus 172 member questions from the forum, 4 a day on 43 days. Practice exams: Days 3 and 35 are the two free official exams, Day 49 retakes exam 1 under time, Day 55 is an optional third exam, and Day 60 is your test.

Day 1The GMAT Focus in 5 minutesTodayProblem Solving4 forum questions
Today's goal: know exactly what the exam is, then answer your first question the way the exam asks it.
The GMAT Focus Edition is three sections, each 45 minutes, in whatever order you choose. You get one optional 10 minute break.
Section
Questions
What it tests
Quantitative Reasoning
21
Arithmetic, algebra and word problems. Every question has five answer choices. No calculator.
Verbal Reasoning
23
Critical Reasoning (short arguments) and Reading Comprehension (passages with questions).
Data Insights
20
Data Sufficiency, tables, graphs, two part questions and multi source questions. An on screen calculator.
Three things people still get wrong about this exam:
No geometry. Triangles, circles and angles are gone. Coordinate questions can still appear, but as algebra. No Sentence Correction and no essay. Verbal is reading and reasoning only. Every section counts the same. Your total is built from all three section scores with equal weight, so Data Insights matters exactly as much as Quant.
Two tools inside the exam that did not exist before 2024: you can bookmark a question and come back, and at the end of each section you can change up to 3 answers if time is left. Day 47 teaches how to use them.
Your score runs from 205 to 805 in steps of 10. Each section runs from 60 to 90. Tomorrow explains what those numbers mean and what score you need.
0:00target 2:00
A used bookstore sells paperbacks for $4 each and hardcovers for $7 each. On Monday it sold 50 books in total for $236. How many hardcovers did it sell on Monday?
Do now
1. Answer today's question above with a timer running, before you read the answer. Two minutes is the exam's pace.
2. Open the BTG error log and download it. From today, every question you miss goes in it: the date, the topic, why you missed it. Day 43 teaches how to turn that log into points.
Day 2What your score means and what score you needCritical Reasoning4 forum questions
Today's goal: understand the scale, pick your goal score, and meet Critical Reasoning.
Your total score runs from 205 to 805. Each section (Quant, Verbal, Data Insights) gets its own score from 60 to 90, and the three section scores combine with equal weight into the total. Two people with the same total can have very different section scores.
What this means for you: your weakest section is your biggest lever. Moving a section from 70 to 78 adds about the same to your total whichever section it is, and it is far easier to add 8 points to a weak section than to a strong one. The baseline exam on Day 3 tells you which section that is.
What score do you need? Every business school publishes the average GMAT score of its last class. Find that number for your top two or three schools (search the school name and "class profile"), and set your goal 10 to 20 points above the highest one. Most top programs report Focus averages between 650 and 700. A score near 645 puts you around the top 10 percent of everyone who takes the exam. Write your goal number down today. Day 7 asks for it.
Meet Critical Reasoning. About half of the Verbal section is short arguments: a few sentences, then a question like "which of the following most weakens the argument?" Every argument has a conclusion (the claim the author wants you to accept) and evidence (the facts offered for it). The gap between them is where the question lives. Read the argument once, say the conclusion in your own words, then ask: what would have to be true for this evidence to prove this conclusion? Weeks 4 and 5 go deep. Today's question shows the shape.
0:00target 2:00
City planner: Last year the city added protected bike lanes to ten of its busiest streets. Since then, the number of bicycle trips recorded in the city has risen by 30 percent. Clearly, the new bike lanes caused the increase in cycling.
Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the planner's argument?
Do now
1. Answer the question above with a two minute timer before you read the answer.
2. Find the class average GMAT score for your top schools and write your goal score on a note where you study. You will type it into the forum on Day 7.
3. Tomorrow is practice exam 1, which takes 2 hours 15 minutes plus a break. Clear a block of time now. Morning is best: that is when most people test for real.
Day 3Baseline day: Official Practice Exam 1Data SufficiencyOfficial Practice Exam 1
Today's goal: take the full exam under real conditions and write down three numbers. No studying today beyond that.
Today you take Official Practice Exam 1 from the free Official Starter Kit on mba.com. It is the real exam's own software with retired real questions, so it is the only practice score that predicts your real score. Expect it to feel hard. It is supposed to. Nothing you score today counts against you anywhere.
How to take it so the number means something:
1. Full length, in one sitting, with the on screen timer. Take the 10 minute break when it is offered. 2. Pick a section order and keep it for the whole plan. If you have no reason to prefer one, take Quant, then Verbal, then Data Insights. 3. No notes, no phone, no calculator except the one the Data Insights section gives you. Use scratch paper the way the test center will: a small dry erase pad or two sheets. 4. Answer every question. An unanswered question at the end of a section costs you more than a wrong one.
What to write down the moment you finish: your total, your three section scores, and for each section the question types you missed most (the score report lists them). Those three section scores decide how much time the plan gives each section in weeks 7 and 8.
Your first Data Sufficiency question. Data Sufficiency is about a quarter of the Data Insights section. You get a question and two statements. You never solve for the answer. You decide only whether each statement gives enough information to answer the question. Every DS question has the same five choices, so learn them once:
A. Statement 1 alone is enough, statement 2 alone is not. B. Statement 2 alone is enough, statement 1 alone is not. C. Together they are enough, but neither alone is. D. Each statement alone is enough. E. Even together they are not enough.
The method, every time: test statement 1 by itself. Test statement 2 by itself. Only if both fail, test them together.
0:00target 2:00
Is the positive integer n a multiple of 12?
(1) n is a multiple of 4. (2) n is a multiple of 6.
Do now
1. Take Official Practice Exam 1 now, full length, timed. Then write down your total, your three section scores, and the question types you missed most.
2. Put those numbers in your error log. Day 7 and Day 35 compare against them.
3. Answer today's Data Sufficiency question only after the exam, with the timer. Then close the books. Tomorrow the real studying starts.

Students have beaten the GMAT with this plan since 2010
163,457 daily lessons sent over more than a decade. Three students on what it did for them, in their own forum posts.
About 45 minutes on a question day. Four days are full practice exams of 2 hours 15 minutes: Days 3, 35, 49 and 55.
Do I need to buy anything?
No. The two free official practice exams come in the free Official Starter Kit on mba.com. Day 55 offers a paid Official Exam 3 as an option, or three free timed sections instead. If you want a full course, Days 7, 21 and 43 name the one we recommend.
Do I need a forum account?
No. Your email opens every day and saves your answers, times, scores and test date. If you also sign in to the free forum, your answers on the plan's forum questions count on your dashboard too.
Why give my email?
It opens Days 4 to 60 and keeps your dashboard. Each morning a short email names the day and the three things to do, with a link that opens your dashboard on any device.
What if I miss a day?
Do it the next day. Set your test date and your dashboard says whether you are behind and which day to do today.
When should I start?
About 60 days before your exam. If it is sooner, start today and do two days at once when you have the time.
