Hi goISB

I'm a Chartered Accountant with 7 yrs exp incl of 3 yr full time internship. i have above average academic credentials and strong EC. I am working in a mid-sized CA firm. I'm in a strong leadership position - leading teams of 4-8 and managing professional assignments for the firm. However, my firm isnt a "brand" or a famous organisation. Need your view on the 'absence of a brand' employer upon my chances of getting into ISB. How can i mitigate this handicap?

thanks in anticipation
regards
M

Hi,

Firstly ISB doesnt consider 3 yrs articleship as work ex. So, your work ex. will be taken as 4 years. But 4 yrs is good enough for ISB.

Secondly, dont worry about unknown brand. Many CA's work for small CA firms and ISB is cognizant of that fact. If you can highlight your leadership experiences and other achievements well, brand shoudnt be an issue.

Focus on challenges faced while leading teams, highlight client engagements and any initiatives you took to take your firm to next level.

Feel free to contact us for any queries.

I would have 6 years 2 months experience in IT Consulting for Retail and Manufacturing clients.I am aiming for a high GMAT score (around 720+).

Extra Curriculars :

Hi Sampurna,

You have good acads and CGPA. With 6+ yrs. of employment experience, you are in ideal phase of your profession which most of the b-schools look for. I would suggest you to target 710+ GMAT score and demonstrate professionalism, achievements at work place, leadership traits and ability to work with others in application essays and showcase the same during final interviews. You'll have fair chances in ISB, if you are able to skillfully frame application essays and work hard on interviews. NUS & INSEAD should be with your reach as well.

Let me know in case of any assistance required. You may PM your details for free profile evaluation and selection of b-school.

Best
Zeenat

Hi Sampurna,

Your profile looks strong and well balanced. IT consulting experience will help but you need to make sure that you differentiate yourself from other IT applicants.

International experience and team lead experience are positives. You extra currics especially the singing thing will help you differentiate yourself.

We see very good chances of getting an interview call from ISB and NUS if you score a 720. Apply early ( in Oct/ nov) to NUS as it has rolling admissions. INSEAD can be little tough as they give a lot of importance to international experience and you have limited international experience. But if you do a good job with you essays, you stand a chance.

Hi Abhinav,

You must start early, if you intend to apply in ISB. You profile looks fine. A GMAT score of 700+ will fortify your chances. Next step would be to competently write application essays and demonstrate your achievements, leadership style, professionalism and other aptitudes during final interviews. If you are able to showcase these elements, then you would be able to convert your chances from application to admission. You may target INSEAD, NUS, Nanyang, CEIBS-Shanghai, SMU-Singapore as well.

Feel free to post any further queries you may have. You may PM your details for school selection or free profile evaluation.

Regards
Erina

Hi Meera,

To convert your chances from application to admission, you must highlight leadership skills, achievements in or outside work place, professionalism, ability to work with others and additional aptitudes in your application essays and same during the final interviews. If you are able to showcase these elements with 700+ GMAT score then you would stand a chance in b-school(s).

Feel free to ask further queries. You may PM your details for free profile evaluation and selection of b-schools.

Regards
Erina

Hello

Plz evaluate my profile for ISB

10th: 83.8%
12th: 85.6%
B. Architecture: 8.08 CGPA

I have around five years of work ex with some good design studios (not very famous though). Presently, I am working with a developer company. I have worked with some very good international consultants on sustainable and energy efficient construction. Primarily, strategy development for optimizing energy consumption during design and operations of central air conditioning system of large scale projects. Also, I have worked closely with the management, on development of a design system, spacial configuration and facilities that can enhance the productivity and reduce attrition of the workforce in knowledge industry.
I also do bit of free lancing (small projects though)

My extra curricular activities include:
A few prizes in school & college debates
Prizes in athletics in school
Participation in dance competitions in college & school

Goal: To be one of the leading real state consultant and an instrument of change in the present mode of urban development (insensitive and hostile to people and environment).
Also, MBA,specially the one from ISB, i believe, will expose me to people from diverse professions and sensibilities, which is critical for me, to formulate a solution to the above mentioned concern.

Please let me know how can i improve my profile.
