Hi all,
Please evaluate my profile as well.
I have never written GMAT before, but plan to write it post November after CAT. Please tell me how much I should aim for and when I should apply. I also plan to opt for the early entry option.
2010- 10th - 83.4%
2012 - 12th - 84.4%
Graduation from PES Institute of Technology, bangalore in Electrical Engg. - 8.17 gpa. Not sure how famous the college is outside Bangalore, but its a very renowned one here. Also, shed light on the same.
Just started working in KPMG and pretty sure it's the best part of my profile.
Lot of extra curricular activities in school, college and outside. Can definitely make them count.
Also, interned in Siemens and did final year project in a start up based in Bangalore.
Please advise me how to go about to make my application strong for the early entry option as I want the two year experience to my name.

Could you provide me a profile evaluation for ISB, I plan to apply this year for session 15 -16.
10th - 90%
12th - 77%
B.Tech in Industrial Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. - 6.7 cgpa (less?)
Have lots of extra-curriculars to show for though. (National-level tennis player, Captain of IIT Kharagpur Squash & Tennis teams, Chief coodinator of Sports fest , etc)
GMAT - 740 (Q-51, V-38) (adequate?)
Total Work Experience - 2 years 3 months
9 months with a general insurance company , as a relationship manager for motor manufacturer tie-ups like Honda, TATA, Toyota, etc
Have been working for the past 1& 1/2 years on an entrepreneurial start-up venture which I co-founded.
An obvious question would be why would I want to leave my venture now to pursue MBA, since its only been 18 months. However I experience that I need to gain more knowledge and develop certain business skills to take my business to the next level, hence, though my goal is to pursue the venture (along with other entrepreneurial ideas) in the long run, I plan to do my MBA now and then work for some years preferably in a sales & marketing role before plunging full-time into entrepreneurship.
Please let me know with your inputs.
Thanks & Regards
Hi,
Your candidature is good. 740 on GMAT & IIT brand give you an edge. Work experience looks decent. Agreed, for you defending the Why MBA thing will be important. So, goals essay will be most important. Adcom should not get a feeling that you intend to close your venture and get back to main stream as that ruins the value of entrepreneurial experience.
Your sports experience can be used to highlight team work and leadership.
Your GMAT score can compensate for you average GPA. So, don't worry.

Hi Prem,
While you have ample extra currics which can be highlighted but your work experience duration is too less to apply to ISB unless you are thinking about applying through Early Entry Option.
Also, we will not be able to comment on chances at ISB in absence of a GMAT score.

Your profile looks impressive. Banking sector experience with shades of ops, technology, marketing, alliances makes the profile unique. But at the same time you have ensure that you are able to come up with a good and coherent post MBA goals story.
International assignments will also help.
While you have mentioned cricket & CSR in extra currics, we are not sure whether that is enough to highlight the non work dimension of your profile. Think a little more about that.
Try for a 700 on GMAT so that you dont leave things to chance.
Hope that helps.

I believe that you have a strong profile and you should apply. If you have plans to increase your GMAT score, fantastic! But if not, go with the same score. Not having a current job in your case is not so much of a negative, address it in your optional essay. Good Luck and God Bless!

1. There is one problem that I feel could be an issue - I quit my job in April 2014 as I had to relocate to a new place with my husband. So right now I am just giving interviews. So the point is that I have a gap in my career. So would that affect my application to ISB
Appreciate your time and effort.
Thanks in Advance!
I believe that you have a strong profile and you should apply. If you have plans to increase your GMAT score, fantastic! But if not, go with the same score. Not having a current job in your case is not so much of a negative, address it in your optional essay. Good Luck and God Bless!
