Hi Swaroop,

Your profile looks decent. International experience and masters degree will help. GMAT score is also good.

The only worry is you less work experience. ISB doesnt take anyone with 2 yrs of experience ( you might not even complete 2 yrs) unless the profile is out of the world.

So, we would recommend adding atleast 1 more year of experience before applying.

Feel free to contact us for any queries.

Hi Vineela,

Your profile may be a typical IT profile but it looks interesting when you mention considerable work ex in Japan and showcase your decent extra currics.

ISB rarely takes anyone with 2 yrs of experience at the time of joining, so ideally we would recommend that you wait for one more year and then apply. Also try to target a 730+ on GMAT.

We would not recommend applying this year if you get anything less than 740 as GMAT score is very important for applicants with less work ex.

goSIB Team
Hi,

That makes your chances a little better but we would still recommend waiting for atleast an year.

Hi Rohan,

With your profile of network support engineer, a lot will depend on how you highlight problem solving, client mgmt, crisis mgmt and team skills rather than the technical aspects.

If you can get some international experience, you can make the candidature stronger.

Target a 720 or so on GMAT because at ISB for techies GMAT score will play an important role.

You have a diverse sector and PSU experience but we would still recommend getting a 700 on GMAT.

Also, try to see what can you highlight in extra currics. Dont make your profile uni dimensional.

GMAT: 680/4 (Q50,V31)
X: 81%
XII: 84%
Engineering: 78%

Work Ex:
1. 7+ years in IT development, project management and presales (USA 2 yr and frequent in EU).
2.I've handled portfolio of USD1.5m with 30+ people
3. Worked and managed projects in various business domains, Retail, EnU, Health Care etc.

Special Background:
I carry a special historical background. Indian-American trade relation was started by my ancestor. Hence our family is accredited by both Indian and USA government. As a member of that family sometime I deal with many foreign delegates who come to study Indian heritage.

I wonder with this background but relatively lower GMAT shall I apply for ISB?

Here is my profile.

Class XII: 92.2 % (West Bengal Board) (ranked in top 50 in state and 3rd in the district)
Graduation: B.E (IT) 8.7 CGPA (out of 10)
GMAT: 710 (Q 49,V 37)
Experience: 4+ Yrs. in a TCS (2 years in USA).I have more than two years of experience working in a very diverse team with teammates from USA, Europe and China.
1.Recognized and awarded by my employer more than twice
2.I had been sent to USA 1.5 years back to deliver a critical part of my current project.Since then,I am leading a small team of 3 people.I am still in USA
continuing the assignment

Extra-Curricular Activities: I do not have much in this area.

I took part in state level cricket championship, representing my school.
I helped my uncle on and off with his software and hardware reselling business, solving some unique problem he was facing. The steps thus taken reduced their number of
support call and helped further to optimize its operation in future.
I have experience of working in rural india mostly through management of my family assets.I had to partially give up this opportunity for the last 2 years
after coming overseas.

I would like to continue my career in consulting post MBA but my current lack of business knowledge is not giving me an edge over my peers, who are in the same state.
I am planning to apply in the R2 season but little afraid about my GMAT score.

Do you think I can give it a shot or shall I try next year after improving my GMAT score?
