Does anyone know how we find out about interviews?

For the english usage thing, I don't know for sure, since it's my first language, but I get that a lot in Canada for French, and it normally just means the context - Do you speak english at home/school/ or work, do you correspond often in english, are you normally surrounded by english speakers, or do you normally stick to your first language. Good luck!
You'll never know if you don't try

Submitted my app today. My last recommender still hasn't submitted his part of it and if he doesn't get around to it by tomorrow at around 2ish I'm going to give him a call.

Type of Student: Domestic White Male
Undergrad Institution: Top 15
Major(s): Econ / PoliSci
Minor(s): N/A
Overall GPA: 3.6ish
Position in Class: cum laude

GRE/GMAT Scores: GMAT: 740

Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Dean's list, not much else

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Not much in the way of ECs. One really solid internship and another that proves to them that I wasn't originally headed towards b-school

I'm fairly confident that my lack of activities will keep me out.

Just submitted my application -- what a headrush that was! You guys all look like rockstars, so I'm not sure that I what kind of chance I have but...

Type of Student: Indian Female, US citizen
Undergrad Institution: Top 20 Private College
Major(s): English
Minor(s): Religion
Overall GPA: 3.59, STRONG upward trend, will likely make cum laude or magna cum laude next year
Position in Class: Top 15-20% (no idea what rank as they don't do official ranks until they calculate Latin honors)

GMAT Score:
760
Q: 48
V: 47
W: 6.0

Awards/Honors/Recognitions:
Deans' List, Student Employee of the Year, not much else (the curse of going to a pretty egalitarian school with very little by way of named scholarships/awards)

Pertinent Jobs: 2 strong internships with lots of opportunity for me to take initiative, work 5 jobs while in school (25 hrs/wk)

Activities: Volunteer with local elementary schools, tour guide, tutor other students in writing and lead writing workshops, last year raised $15000+ to bring a speaker to campus that united town and gown

Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help:
Not an accomplishment, but my mother and several other family members are HBS grads which I think (hope?) might help.

Interview Invites

by rachitchandra » Wed Jul 01, 2009 11:33 am
The final reminder mail from HBS says interview invites will be given out in late July!

I thought interview invites will be posted on 15th July.

maybe they realized there are too many applicants....

I have a stupid question,
if I dun receive an interview invitation by end of July,
does that mean I can safely assume I am rejected?

844 applicants this year, according to the HBS website

I think if you don't receive an interview offer they send you your rejection soon after interview offers go out. I think I remember reading something like that somewhere.

Wow!!!!

A 34% increase! reducing the admission rate to abt less than 1/8, which is truly competitive this year. I believe the HBS Admission Comittee is happy to lower the admission rate sharply in the second application season.

Regarding the interview: All admitted candidates will be interviewed. An interview is mandatory for all enrolled 2+2 applicants (This is shadowed from the online application interview section, if I remembered it clearly). I believe at the end of July, one either will receive an invitation for interview, or a simple rejection without an interivew.

Best of luck with everyone who had applied this year.
