quick question, do we need to ask the GMAC send an official copy to the HBS prior to the released admission result because I know official scores serve as a way to verify the self-reported result.

Hello guys,

Are we allowed to include high school achievements, extracurricular activities, volunteer works, and work experience during high school in the 1-page resume? I think that such things can "beautify" our resumes if allowed :D

I hope someone can reply soon.

Thank you,
Gabriel

Hi hbs2014,

Yes, I think you need to ask GMAC to send an official copy of your GMAT scores to HBS before the release of admission result. Official copy of scores may arrive later than July 1.

Hope this helps

Best regards,
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for the reply. I will send an official copy soon.

As regard to high school activities, I think Harvard made two disctinctions clearly in the application form.

1) most up-to-date, which I guess is w/i three years of the application.

2) resume is attached under the "part time employment," which means the vast majority of the content is supposed to be paid, aka paid internship, etc. I guess school activities should be filled in the extracurricula section of the application.

That is my understanding but you are welcome to ask the Admission Office.

Hey guys,

I'm also applying. Did you see on the HBS website that they'll notify us ~Jul. 15 about interviews? Wow, they're really only spending 2 weeks doing a preliminary readthrough and first cut!

Hello hbs 2014,

Thank you also for replying.

I would just like to clarify that you don’t need to be “paid” in an internship to put a job in the “part-time employment” section. I emailed HBS about this. I worked as a research assistant and a registration adviser in my school a few months ago without any pay. I asked HBS if I may write those two (and only) work experiences that I have. The ‘adcom’ said that I may write them since it is experience that they are after and not the salary. I hope everyone will be guided by this.

I wish everyone the best in the application process.

Best regards,
Gabriel

major

by jmsells » Thu Jun 18, 2009 7:26 pm
hey guys,

I am currently a chemistry major with a minor in management.

That is what I reported to HBS as it is what is on my transcript and they require you to list exactly as listed on the official document.

I have not decided yet if I am going to finish the chemistry major or if I will do management. If, during my senior year, I change to a management major and chemistry minor, is that grounds for rescending admission if I am admitted into the program?

I have an equal number of management classes/chem classes, but only enough time to do a major in one or the other...I just don't know yet which one.
Let me know your thoughts!

Hey, its not that they dont want people from management backgrounds or with management majors,,
infact 3% people in last years batch were from ''Business & organisation background".....
so basically, the catch is u have to show u dint consider business initially, and now u may....thats how the 2+2 program came into being,, to target these people..

point is..they basically are targeting non-business background ppl..but they have no criteria or hard-n-fast rules to reject anyone with a business major... btw I myself am an Accounting major, still applying,
so I'd say , lets give it a shot... :)
cheers...

At an HBS event in my school, one kid was an econ major that had had several finance internships. The admissions rep said while 2+2 wasn't geared towards business majors, an econ major was liberal arts in their minds, and while last year they had looked more to people who wouldn't have taken a business school tack without the program, this year, if you're a liberal arts major that's demonstrated a clear business interest that's fine and won't hurt you.

We upload the resume in the "part-time education" page right?

The deadline is getting close
Has anyone submitted the app yet???
I am still working on the essays.

Question,
will any of you write anything on the "additional info" part?????

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!
