Well I'll get started with the profile posting -- wow those interview slots went fast! Nothing left for Monday now!

Type of Student: Domestic female, US citizen (born in Jersey!) but of Indian descent
Undergrad Institution: Top 30 Liberal Arts College, well respected by HBS (alum is on the adcom)
Major(s): English
Minor(s): Religion
Overall GPA: 3.59 (soph + jr year GPA: 3.89)
Position in Class: Top 15-20%, will likely make cum laude

GRE/GMAT Scores: 760 (99th)
Q: 48 (84th)
V: 47 (99th)
W: 6.0
TOEFL Total: (if applicable)

Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Deans' List, Student Employee of the Year, not much else
Pertinent Activities or Jobs: 2 v. strong internships in the social media space, raising money to bring a speaker that united town-gown, Student Conduct Committee chair, tour guide, peer writing tutor, employee at college office with significant responsibility

Interview?: Yes
Interview slot (if applicable): Monday 8/17 at 11am
What you think helped/hurt: Unusual experience (social media), an emphasis on initiative (though not really on leadership) and the ability to carve out opportunities for myself in my essays, being female obviously helped, showed significant academic maturation, and mother is an HBS alum. What might have hurt is that my internships are business oriented (marketing) but I don't know if that's an issue now that I've made it to this stage, and that 4 other students from my college applied to HBS.

As promised,….

Type of Student: International male from South East Asia.
Undergrad Institution: Top university of nation.
Major(s): Communication Engineering
Minor(s):
Overall GPA: 3.98
Position in Class: Top 1%

GRE/GMAT Scores: 680 (my weakness! I took it once though)
Q: 48
V: 35
W: 5.5
TOEFL Total: (if applicable) 114

Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Deans' List, National Software Awards, Regional Software Competition, Full Scholarship, Founder and Pres of first IEEE Comp Soc. in country

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Intern in media industry. I was able to get the intern because of my work as model/presenter. Got support from the company’s Chairman (in fortune 500 list). Another intern at an international bank in IT dept.

Angle/Dream: Revolutionalize media/entertainment in my nation via innovative ideas and using technical advances

Interview?: HELL YEAH!
Interview slot (if applicable): Sunday 8/23 at 3:00 pm. (will arrive in US just a bit before to start my exchange at Dartmouth college)

What you think helped/hurt: My leadership experiences and dream in media/entertainment. Weakness, as mentioned, is GMAT.

As you can see, I think everyone should mention his/her Angle/Dream presented to HBS.

If anyone planning to have a meeting or smth please let me know. I would love to join. Btw, could someone please clarify (and I mean crystal clear) the luncheon 2+2 and campus tour program? How to join, the availability, and wat will actually happen.
Thanks a bunch!

I wanted 10am on monday, but I tried 3 different slots and they kept getting snapped up so I caved and went for the 9am tuesday slot asap. It was insane how fast people signed up!

Anyone wanna meet up on Monday/ Tuesday?

I think I'll do the lunch and tour on Monday to get my brain in "HBS mode".

I'm going to book a hotel in the area for Sunday night (16th) before my interview. If anyone is doing the same and would like to meet for a drink, I'd certainly be game. Just a thought...

Congrats to all who received interview invitations...

A quick word of advice...in prepping for the interviews, I definitely recommend consulting a HBS alum/student or a consulting service for interview prep. While it's definitely true that there's no generic HBS interview script AND that tons of students have rockstar interviews without any prep, it's really helpful to get significant practice both sharing your story and thinking introspectively about the lessons you have gotten out of different experiences/your unique background, what you want to do with your life, and some of the challenges you've overcome.

Enlisting the help of a HBS friend (best method) or consulting service isn't a cure-all, but will force you to begin thinking about these different things...and, more importantly, speaking about these things. (speaking is different from writing)

While my 2+2 interview was not even remotely close to what I thought it would be, the fact that I had really thought introspectively and practiced sharing these thoughts verbally/orally prior to the interview really gave me a lot of confidence going into the interview.

Best of luck!

Agreed, Monday-Tuesday interviewees should definitely meet up. I'll be arriving in Boston on the Saturday/Sunday prior and will probably leave Monday night so as to miss as little work as possible. I'll definitely be at the lunch and tour and info session (vague as the info is...)

Lots of Indians, and lots of engineering folks -- am I the only liberal arts/humanities type? You guys all look like complete rockstars, I'm scratching my head to figure out why I got the nod among you talented folks :-).

As for the interview, I don't think there's a such thing as an interview you shouldn't prepare for, *especially* an HBS interview. I'm family friends with an adcom member at another top 5 b-school who shared that we should really look over our application materials and past accomplishments (anything we touted) as that's what we'll be asked about (she doesn't work for HBS, but it seems like that's likely the case there too).

... Now I have to figure out what to wear!

Sunday the 23rd @2

What to wear... the big question. Full suit seems pretty simple for guys, but there are so many bloody variables for girls... any suggestions?
You'll never know if you don't try

Thanks for the advice.
I am a liberal arts major too, so you are not alone.

I am already getting nervous for the interview...
I know it's gonna be quite casual and it wouldn't be hard...
but I just can't stop myself from being thinking about the interview all the time...haha....
I hope Sep 1 will come soon!!

Honestly I have been debating the same question for the past day as well. Boston is going to be awfully hot and humid in August, especially for a suit and stockings. Additionally, I've always heard to wear black or navy blue suits, but is that really summer appropriate?

Ahhhhhhh.
