Congratulations to everyone! I'll see you next summer.

There was talk of a facebook group when we were having lunch at Spangler on interview day. Has anyone made any such group?

Karthik,

I think most students in this program are on facebook. Far fewer will be on Orkut. Also, facebook was started by a Harvard student, so we should probably have our group on it!

i have a couple jobs fairs this week and I was wondering, should I tell the companies that I got accepted to this and can only work 2 years? or do you think that companies don't want to hear that they only have you for two years...

I didn't get a phone call (maybe coz i'm an international student :( )...But I have something to say for the companies thing..

I think it depends on the companies and their programs whether they like the fact that we will be leaving them in 2 years..
Here's what McKinsey tells our Placement Cell:
Job Description: A two-year program for students with undergraduate degrees, offering them an opportunity to gain experience in the consulting environment and providing the Firm with a source of potential future associates.

So, for McKinsey and other consults., I believe we are a good match!
watsay?

To all those planning to apply this year and were rejected in the 2+2, does it make sense to reapply when I dont foresee the application changing much from the last time?

No, I believe energie is referring to the fact that the McKinsey business analyst position (entry-level consultant) is only a 2 year job. Then you're expected to go to off to b-school (and maybe come back after). Same goes for other strategy consulting firms, like BCG and Bain. Same also goes for analyst positions at investing banking firms -- but who wants to be on Wall Street right now anyway?

So, consulting and banking firms probably wouldn't care -- and would like -- the fact that you were into HBS and had to leave in 2 years. After all, that's the norm. Other companies, I'm not so sure that they'd be thrilled. But since you'd have to tell them at some point anyway, it's probably best to just put it on your resume up front regardless.

I bet we'll find a description from McKinsey for 2+2 applicants on October 1st. :)
