Harvard MBA HBS 2+2
To the people who got the calls, are all interviews on campus or can you schedule a telephonic interview or an interview with an alum? Though I did not receive an invite, yet I am curious to know how are they handling international applicants.
Apparently not. I just called and was told that all 2+2 interview invitations have been sent out. I asked one more time just to make sure, and the receptionist reiterated, "I believe so."apexyanks wrote:i just called the office and the receptionist said they haven't all been sent out. so to those of you, like myself, who haven't received anything yet, there's still hope. i got the impression that invites were being sent on a rolling basis, like they would keep coming over the next couple of days at least.
Can a third person call and verify?
Congratulations and good luck, by the way, to everyone who has received an invitation.

Best wishes to everyone...I think that this is probably the only program at HBS where you could be rejected for being overqualified (e.g. undergrad business majors). Even those who have received interviews have a long way to go...
I'm wondering if all interviewees will have to reschedule interviews due to the server problems...I received a confirmation email with my interview time and date, but I suppose I'll wait for "final" confirmation before booking flights.

I was wondering the same thing. I got a 2nd confirmation email, but I'm still having that "No Events" problem. How are we supposed to know when we are really confirmed?legend2005 wrote:Best wishes to everyone...I think that this is probably the only program at HBS where you could be rejected for being overqualified (e.g. undergrad business majors). In your interview confirmation email, does it just list the date and time of your interview and not your name/contact phone number? I found that a little odd as well...mkb wrote:I was wondering the same thing. I got a 2nd confirmation email, but I'm still having that "No Events" problem. Yes. I thought that was weird too.In your interview confirmation email, does it just list the date and time of your interview and not your name/contact phone number? I found that a little odd as well...
I hope nothing bad happens due to this interview system mess-up. I can just imagine showing up to HBS, and the receptionist telling me that I don't have a scheduled interview.
I find it interesting that they already put rejection letters up in the online profiles. I was under the impression that interviews were rolling.
I actually thought the opposite, and I don't think it's surprising. The admissions process for the 2+2 program is on a relatively much, much smaller scale than regular HBS admissions.
In the rejection letter, HBS officially stated that they had just over 600 applicants for 2+2. Contrast that to their regular MBA admissions process, in which HBS gives interviews to approx. 850 applicants from Round 1 alone. In that scenario, I could understand sending interview invitations on a rolling basis given the sheer volume of applications. In the case of 2+2, it makes sense that even up to 200-ish interviews (from a mere pool of 600+) were sent out at once. This latter situation doesn't really require a rolling interview process.
Furthermore, since HBS hasn't yet entirely defined the 2+2 identity, they had to decide on all the interviewees at one time in order to have a clearer vision of how their prospective inaugural 2+2 class is shaping up. I feel that in their regular MBA admissions process, they can conduct interviews on a rolling basis because they already have general criteria in mind when reading through applications. This is really not at all the case for 2+2, and instead they needed to read through everyone's applications and evaluate them collectively before deciding whom to interview.
