You should have taken a test before starting your preparation....You must test yourself periodically into order to mark your performance and gain stamina.....

I did not take it because i thought was going to be a waste considering that i was not familiar with the test at all. Now I am almost done with the quantitative part and i'm about to start the verbal. if i take the entire test right now i'm competitive in quant section but not in the verbal...what should i do? wait until i finish the verbal and then take the test or do it even though i've never studied for the verbal? thanks

I do agree with you that you should be familiar with the ques types....But before starting the prep you should have taken one in order to know your performance or strengths.

I 've done it today and got 410, 23Q 22V. i almost got the same score in both even though i've not studied verbal at all...

Dont worry it happens with every one.....Atleast now you know where you need too work..

Just to add, it's important to do a little bit of everything. Don't think of studying like "first I will complete Quant...then I will complete Verbal...then I will complete AWA...." You will NEVER be "done" with a section, so at the beginning you want to be building content and strategy and working on ALL question types.

Definitely study in concentrated blocks, but you should cycle through all the GMAT material at least every 4 days. If it has been a week since you practiced a certain concept, the odds are it will slip away from you.

You should be taking practice tests to TRY OUT STRATEGY, as well as build stamina and work on pacing. If you wait until you think you will have good scores you will never be truly ready. I suggest you take at least 6 more full length practice tests before your GMAT.

Thanks Viviankerr, what i'm actually studying is given me by the 60 days study guide, but i'll now follow your suggestion of not doing just one thing at the time as well.
