i took 3 mgmat tests(dont want to disclose overall scores)
but i consistently got 19/37 questions correct in Q section (with the score around 44-45 in the Q section of course)

wat to expect in my Gmat prep-1 which i have scheduled next week on 31st Jan ? A Q-45 ? something higher or lower ?

I found the MGMAT Quant CAT questions to be harder. I'd say you can expect somewhere between 40-49 depending on the type of questions you get and how you feel on the day.

I got 47 in Q in the gmat prep-1.
The questions were much more subtle and involved brains but the calculations required were fewer than MGMAT and manageable in 75 mins, and I think I did well, 26 correct:)

Made 4 mistakes in RTD/work wages. A henious sin I should say.

Bblast is correct. There are two kinds of difficulty on the Quant section of the GMAT.

Here are a couple of things that I wrote in an earlier post that might help:

The kind of difficulty that is represented on the GMAT, that is tough to find in the non official tests is what I call "Sneaky Difficulty" the difficulty that the GMAT does so well.

On the GMAT seemingly simple questions often have two tricks, one for you to find and think that you are quite smart and then a second trick to get you just as you think you are done. Data Sufficiency questions often have these tricks.

The funny thing about this type of "trickery" is that very often those who have missed the question are more confident that they have the right answer than are those who got it right. Now that is a tough question to write!! And OG questions do it best. This is the type of difficulty that often gets the better of students who are really good at "pure math."

The second kind of difficulty is the up-front conceptual difficulty of questions that require more math skills. These types of questions are possibly even over-represented on unofficial tests.

exactly, and even the easier DS questions towards the end have serious treachery associated with them. I erred in a seemingly easy stats question which I believed I had nailed until I discovered later that I was tricked. So its very very important to think twice before marking an "easy" answer (not on the 1st 10 questions as they are pretty straight forward); but on the later part of the test when u bump into an easier question it is more likely that u need to put on ur thinking cap rather than to just calculate stuff and mark an answer.

David and bblast must be right. I had similar experience. Today I attempted, GMATPrep retake(following BTG 60 days plan and prepared only Quant). I got Q48. I didn't expect this score as I was not getting good scores in my Kaplan practice quizzes come with Kaplan Premier 2010-11. I found Quant in GMATPrep completely different than Kaplan's.
