Hi,

Please evaluate my profile - planning to apply for fall 2013.

I'm a 28 year old Indian female with 720 GMAT Score (Verbal - 40, Quant- 49, AWA - 4.0). I have a Bachelor of engineering in Computer Science degree with CGPA of 7.4 on a 10.0 Scale. Graduated top 10% in class.

Work experience:
"¢ 4 years of work experience in IT product development/consulting.
"¢ Fast track promotion.
"¢ Got two prestigious awards.
"¢ Led a team of 4-6 members for over a period of 2 years.
"¢ Multi national work experience.
"¢ Introduced process improvements and cost saving solutions.
"¢ Executed multi-million dollar project seamlessly and under strict deadline.

Extra Curricula's:

"¢ Choreographed dance numbers at community level events.
"¢ Captain of Kho-Kho team in school.
"¢ Won numerous medals in Athletics - School.
"¢ 2 NGO's - 2 years
"¢ Volunteer in community development centers - Organized events.
"¢ Certificate Programs

Currently unemployed - got married and came to US on a dependant Visa. I have been involved in volunteering activities with 3 organizations and academic courses related to management (4 courses completed) during this period.

Short team goal: Work in Marketing, preferably in CPG or IT Product marketing.
Long Term goal: Open my own business - CPG.

Target Schools:
USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Kelley, Emory and McCombs.

Could you please let me know whether my current unemployment be a problem even though I have been trying to offset that by Volunteering and taking up academic courses? Please advise.

Hi Angie and thanks so much for your post!

Your background looks strong, and from what I can tell from your post, it looks as if you left your job to move to the US with your spouse. Is that correct? If so, then this is really quite an easy thing to explain to the adcoms as to why you're currently unemployed. The big question for them will really be "How is she using her time now?". I would suggest that if you can at all volunteer in the field you're interested in working in, that may be helpful, but it does seem as if otherwise, you are doing exactly the right thing. Taking classes in the field that you hope to pursue, and working on your extra-curriculars are a great use of your time.
