A is my answer . I think as many Americans construction is correct. Please let us know the OA.

Only PARALLEL FORMS can be compared:

A: as many Americans believe...than those who believe
Here, Americans believe (subject and verb) and those who believe (noun + who-modifier) are not parallel forms.
Also, as many X than Y is unidiomatic.
Correct idiom: AS MANY X AS Y.
Eliminate A.

C: as many Americans believe...as to believe
Here, Americans believe (subject and verb) and to believe (infinitive) are not parallel forms.
Eliminate C.

D: double the Americans believe...than believing
Here, Americans believe (subject and verb) and believing (participle) are not parallel forms.
Also, double X than Y is unidiomatic.
Correct idiom: TWICE AS MANY X AS Y.
Eliminate D.

E: as many Americans believe...as those believing
Here, Americans believe (subject and verb) and those believing (noun + VERBing modifier) are not parallel forms.
Eliminate E.

The correct answer is B.

Generally, as many X as Y serves to compare CLAUSES.
When the second clause omits a subject, the subject of the first clause is IMPLIED in the second clause.
OA: Twice as many Americans believe that there is too much government regulation of business and industry as [Americans] believe there is too little.
Here, the subject in brackets is omitted, but its presence is implied.
As a result, the PARALLEL FORMS in red are compared.

There is a 3-2 split among answer choices regarding released vs that was released.
Which of them is correct?
I believe we need preposition on resulting in phrase released on september 16 in both the cases. Without that the phrase doesn't seem to make sense.

Both are grammatically correct.
That said, that was can be omitted with no loss of meaning, so its presence in D and E makes the sentence unnecessarily wordy.
Since the OA is more concise and contains no errors, the OA is better than D or E.
I believe we need preposition on resulting in phrase released on september 16 in both the cases. Without that the phrase doesn't seem to make sense.


No preposition is needed before September 16.

Hi,
I selected E, with the understanding that the first "as" is followed by a Noun "Americans" and second "as" is followed by a pronoun (those), where "those" also refers to "Americans".
Also, what i felt was that "those" is followed by a verb-ing modifier "believing", which seems fine here.
So, noun and pronoun can be parallel.
Can you help me understand where i am wrong here ?
