Hi guys.. Gave the first GmatPrep test today... Quant 50 and Verbal 41... Got a score of 740.. Got 6 Ques. wrong in both the sections.

How accurate is this test?

Also how do I access my percentile..? The software did not display it..

D- Day in a week...

First of all congrats on your great score in GMATprep!!

GMATprep is the best indicator their is. But it has a +30/-30 error. So you know your best case and worst case.

Their of course are other factors that matter:
1. Did you take the AWA.
2. Test Pressure (big one). Nothing compares to the pressure on test day.
3. Plain simple luck!!
among others.

All in all you are in a great position, so don't worry. Just go and give it confidently, you will do great.

GMATprep will not show you the percentiles. You can search for approximate percentiles on the net, or they are in the last pages of the OG (I guess you do have the book)!!.

Thanks a lot Akhil for all the encouragement ...

I did not take the AWA but It feels like I just had a lucky day...

To be honest, I was shocked by my score..

Took the MGMAT free sample test yesterday and scored 700 , even though I made 8 mistakes in Quant and 13 mistakes in verbal..
I couldn't have improved so much in one day...

Fringe you can never compare 3rd party tests.

I used to take knewton and scored 660, 690, 660. On gmatprep I scored 720. So the other tests are used to time urself, test your strategies and work on your mistakes. It is pretty well known that the MGMAT quant is harder.
Also number of questions incorrect don't matter. Even if you get a 51 quant you will get around 12 incorrect (this is from an expert) because of the adaptive nature of the test.

So don't doubt yourself, you have done well, worked hard. It is the last week of the prep be confident and give your best shot!!

Indeed i do agree with everything akhil said........Gmat prep is the most accurate score indicator...

Make sure you check your incorrect ques, work hard and enjoy your gmat exam..
Don't look for the incorrect things that you have done rather look for remedies....

Not sure which expert this is from, but this is very far from being true. If you make even one mistake in Verbal, you'll get a 49 or 50 on GMATPrep, and with two mistakes you'll get a 47 or 48. Those scores are still in the 99th percentile, so while it looks like you're losing a lot of points per mistake, you really aren't. Quant is a different story. You won't get a 51 unless you're nearly perfect, but you can certainly get a 50 with 12 mistakes, provided those mistakes are almost entirely on extremely difficult questions. The percentiles drop off much more quickly in Quant; a 50Q is in the 94th or 95th percentile (can't remember offhand the exact number).
