The inner dimension of a rectangular box lid are 30 cm, 25cm, and 20cm, respectively. Thickness of wood is 1cm.Find the volume of the wood used to make the box. Find also the weight of the empty box if the density of wood used is .75gms

Since the thickness of wood is 1 cm. The outer dimensions of the box will be 32cm*27cm*22cm

Volume of wood = Outer volume of the box - Inner volume of the box
= (32 * 27 * 22) - (30 * 25 * 20) = 4008 cubic cm.

Assumption : Density of wood used is .75gms/cubic cm

Weight of the empty box = Volume of wood * density of wood = 4008*0.75 gms = 4008*3/4 = ~ 3 Kilograms

Make a mental pic of the cuboid. The inner dim are a,b,c and thickness t then (a+2t), (b+2t), (c+2t) will be the exterior cuboid dimension.
