It's absolutely fine to think about an MBA as a platform for a career change, and I encourage you at this point to really research your options, and to do some thinking and research about what you envision as a career. However, when you apply to business school, it is important to have a strong sense of your own skills and strengths, as well as what you need from an MBA program, and what you want to do post MBA, both in the short and long term. I would suggest that you do some informational interviewing in areas that might be of interest to you. Just chipping in to say that pretty drastic changes can be made with the MBA. I certainly know very interesting cases from Imperial College Business school who went from consulting to wine industry, from being an olympic champion to working from BP, from working in policy to starting a renewable energy company. My advise would be to narrow down what area you want to get into before you apply. It will help you choose what school is best for you. But I would like some tips on what factors were considered during the process.
