IMO - B.

But if the sentence is "Of all the people who brought about the Reformation, the religious revolution that grew out of objections to the doctrines of the medieval church, Martin Luther is the best known of them.", will the answer choice still be B(I think it should be E) ?

B) is the correct option IMO since it is the most concise and has the best structure.

Martin Luther is the best known of them . OF THEM is redundant since it is already been said by of all the people.

the best known is Martin Luther . Correct. Also correct use of present tense.

the better known of them was Martin Luther. OF THEM is redundant, incorrect use of past tense, superlative BEST should be used not BETTER.

Martin Luther is better known Incorrect use of better.SHould be best

the best known one was Martin Luther. ONE is redundant again. Was is incorect

the right choice is B because it is parallel, short and clear.

E is incorrect because its wordy and using past tense.
