Manhattan GMAT prep database hack e-mail

by bblast » Wed Mar 28, 2012 9:51 pm
Hello all,
I was on these forums last year. I used MGMAT cats purchased from their website. I received an email today morning that MGMAT database has been hacked and my credit card info that they had has been stolen by vandals. In fact the entire MGMAT database has been stolen.

Anyone else received similar mail ? I smell something fishy.
Cheers !!

I also got that email but somehow deleted it from my phone. Can you forward me the email for my records?

Hi guys -- I can clarify. Our system was in fact breached on Sunday. Some students' personal information was exposed during the breach. We've addressed the security issues, and we sent out email notifications to all affected customers yesterday. If you have not received an email from us, then you have not been affected. We are currently in the process of responding to student concerns. Please feel free to call us at 1-800-576-4628 if you have questions, or email [email protected].

We certainly regret this incident. There is nothing more important to Manhattan Prep than the relationships we've built with our students and customers over the years. This incident pains us, but it also strengthens our commitment to those we've served and continue to serve.

How is MGMAT making sure that the stolen cards won't be used to make invade one's privacy? I'm going through a lot trying to resolve unauthorized charges. I think MGMAT should offer free credit monitoring service to affected students for up to a year.

Hey,

I totally understand your frustration and we're working with students on a case-by-case basis to make sure we're doing all we can to provide assistance to those affected. Don't hesitate to call our Student Services department at 212-721-7400 or 800-576-4628 and we'll be happy to discuss this in more detail.

Best,
Matt
