Hi
I am 20 , have just completed my graduation in commerce . I live in delhi and am going to start working for a supply chain consultancy , Bristlecone. I had first taken up gmat just to put off my father`s nagging but I now I am quite interested in acing it . I hope seasoned gmat takers will help me along the way as i am going to give myself just once chance to score 750 plus.
I am starting my preparation for Gmat with BTG 60 days plan.
I finished taking my Gmat prep 1 yesterday for my baseline gmat score . I scored 680 with 48Q , 35 va.
Any tips , suggestions , interpretations are welcome..!!..

Thanks ntripathi for that introduction, and welcome to the community! You've made a smart move in deciding to prepare for the GMAT immediately after graduating--that is the perfect time to study. Additionally, your 680 diagnostic test score is AWESOME. You're in great position to score well into the 700s on your real exam.

Glad to hear that you are using the 60-Day GMAT Study Guide. You may want to take a look at the GMAT/MBA Library as well, which should be an important reference for you as you prepare.

Good luck! And please don't hesitate to ask questions in our community during your GMAT prep and MBA admissions.

All the best,

Eric

Hello,

This is Kir. I am a software engineer by profession but trying to get into the management side. I am interested in doing part-time MBA at NYU. Recently I attempted the GMAT and got a dismal 640 (48 Q, 31 V).

I have exhausted many online resources but to my agony it just didnt work. I used to get in the upper 700's during my practice tests the last week before my exam so was quite confident that I would cross 700.

I feel shattered and dont know how or where to start preparing again.

I have 8 yrs of work experience and a Masters degree in Computer science.

I looked at the forum quite a few times during my preparation but didnt really register. Now I want to try something different and become active in these forums so that I can learn something and share my knowledge with others.

Thank you Kir for introducing yourself--it's nice to meet you! I'm really sorry to hear that you haven't been able to reach your goal of an upper 700s to date. The good news though is that a 640 is still a good score. If you're aiming for a 700+ as well, it's a good baseline to start from.

I have two resources in this community I recommend you check out:

60-Day GMAT Study Guide - This is a daily study guide where we e-mail you what to study each day. Might be a nice change to what you've tried before

GMAT/MBA Library - Based on the score breakdown you've reported, it seems like your weak area is verbal. Check out our GMAT/MBA library, it's the largest collection of GMAT prep articles in the world. LOTS of verbal articles to help you in your prep.

I wish you all the best! Please don't hesitate to ask questions in our community along the way. We have a lot of amazing members and experts here who want to help you succeed. And the only they can help you is if you ask. :)

You can do it!

Hi everyone. My name is Varun. I'm planning to give GMAT sometime by mid to late October so that I would be able to meet the application deadlines. I've taken a 3 month coaching for GMAT so I'm aware of the basic concepts just need to revise and practice on them. I know I don't have much time so I'll be coming here regularly for tips from experts.

Apart from that, I'm 24 years old and have a 2 year work experience at Deutsche Bank which I quit a few months back to focus on the preparation. My hobbies include movies, music and video games.

Hello everyone,

My name is Rob. I've been contemplating an MBA for years. I graduated in 02 and came back again for a 2nd degree in 04 in business management and finance. I've worked in IT since I was 18 on and off but it's where I've ended up for the last 6 years.

I have a couple months off while I am taking care of my 5 month old son. My goal is to study at least 3-5 hours a day till late September when I go back to work and continue to study after work until I take the GMAT in early October.

My diagnostic test score was average except for above average in reading comp and below average in sentence correction. I'm on the 6th day of the 60 day study guide and noticing a big improvement in problem solving and data sufficiency.

I'm glad I'm FINALLY doing this and look forward to talking with everyone.

Ciao,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for that intro, and welcome to the Beat The GMAT community! Also, congrats on being a new father! I'm sure that's both exciting and incredibly tiring at the same time. :)

I'm glad to hear that you're using the 60-Day GMAT Study Guide, and that's helping you with your prep. I'm happy to hear that you're devoting a few hours of prep per day during your studies--stay disciplined and consistent with your efforts, and it will pay off big time for you. Another resource you might want to use while you prep is the GMAT/MBA Library. This is the largest collection of GMAT/MBA expert articles on the Internet. I think you'll enjoy this as a reference as you progress in your prep.

Finally, don't hesitate to ask questions while you study in our community! The members and experts on Beat The GMAT are simply awesome, and we enjoy helping each other out.

All the best!

Eric

Hello All,

Just introducing myself. I am a Purchasing Manager for an Aerospace Manufacturer in the Northeast U.S. My company was bought out by a larger company several years ago, and I have decided that in order to be a viable contender for my bosses position when he retires in 7-8 years, that I have to have an edge on some of the folks at corporate. I have decided that getting an MBA is a good start, and have been spending the last 6 months re-learning all of the high school math that I coasted through 15 years ago. My strong point is definitely the verbal portion of this test (I hope). The quantitative portion is my nemesis right now, but I haven't given up yet and don't intend to. I hope to be ready to take them GMAT in December. My goal is a 500, since my school of choice requires 485, but I would love to perform better than that. We'll see !

Thanks for that intro jwatt13164, and welcome to our community! Really cool to hear about your background--must be nice to know that you are being 'groomed' for leadership at your company.

Since you mentioned you are in the process of re-learning math, here are some articles you might find useful: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/category/tags/gmat-math

Also, check out our daily math question: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/daily-gmat-math-question

Good luck!

GMAT Score:640

Hi Eric, Hi Everybody: I have taken the GMAT several times before, and I am stuck in the mid 600's. I am going to try to prepare one more time. I will never give up until getting at least a 700. I am already in my MBA program, but I am too proud of myself to leave my MBA with a so so GMAT score. Some of the best employers out there do ask for this critical piece of information.

I look forward to sharing my strategies and learning about how each of you tackle problems. So far I have realized to focus on my weaknesses to get the most return out of my continued effort.

Thanks!

GMAT WARRIOR

Hello Everybody,
I have been lurking around this site for quite some time. Seems really awesome with the resources, blogs experiences. I "hope" to make an equivalent contribution as well. My basics are a little weak and rusty. I need to really catch up. I tried the diagnostic test and I was really bad at it. My aim is to get a 700+ (crossing fingers really hard) and so it is primordial that I work hard and beat the GMAT like most of you guys in this forum did. I have enrolled for the 60 day Gmat.

My background : I have done my bachelors in information technology, mumbai and currently pursing masters in informations systems in paris.
I want to give my GMAT in march and targeting the 2014 intake.

I have made a blog gmatsamurai.blocked but i haven't really started putting up anything yet.

Thats it for now - and time for being awesome.

oh yes if you do have any inputs and critics (good or bad but constructive), I am all ears. Oh and Eric: Great site!
