im George from Europe. The first time I visit this page i was and i still am surprised about the tons of information and hints about the GMAT.
With 2,5 months left to the test, this page makes me confident to score well.

Regaring myself: I graduated last summer as a finance major and i work as a consultant right now.

Im looking foward to the discussions in the forums and also to share my GMAT experience.

My name is Anthony and I'm from Atlanta. I found this site while searching on the internet for GMAT prep courses. It has been quite some time since my last standardized test. I'm a non-traditional student looking to change careers. I know I'll need to start with the basics and work from there, so I really need to set up an organized study schedule. From what I've read thus far on this forum, the journey to a satisfactory GMAT score should not be taken lightly. I'm taking the GMAT in June and my plan is to learn as much as I can from this forum.

I've been researching the GMAT for the past couple weeks and have already learned an extensive amount through this community. I look forward to working with you all and DESTROYING the GMAT!

My name's Shakeeb, I just finished an undergraduate degree in Economics and am beginning work in July. So, in the meantime, I decided to focus all my efforts on the GMAT (after 2 months of slacking off from December )

I took my first cold diag. using GMAT prep a couple weeks ago. I barely knew what type of questions would be on the GMAT as I wanted to know what I would get with no prep whatsoever. I didn't really attempt to work out questions I knew I couldn't figure out; just guessed and moved on.

I ended up with a 500. , though, I can't say I expected any more than that. My goal's a 720 and after reading all of the great stories and strategies on here I'm more than confident that with dedication, passion, and perseverance I'll get there!

Hi My name is Emi,

I live in Nigeria and I'm a doctor. I'm expanding into other fields and I feel that a business degree would give me the edge I need. I have actually been studying for a few months but I didn't start serious preparations till January. Last time I took the CAT prep test, I scored a 620. I am aiming for a 750 but I don't have the liberty of extra time. I was hoping to take the test my the end of this month or at the very latest by beginning of April. I would appreciate any useful tips I can use to achieve this goal. Thanks

My name is Aleksandra. I have no test date in mind, so it was hard for me to sit down and study. I signed up for the 60 Day Study Plan to keep me disciplined, and from what I can tell it's no joke! They really mean that you need 3-4 hours a day!

I have an engineering background so quant is supposed to be pretty ok for me. This being said, I can attest to that if you have a math/engineering background your quant vs verbal score can reverse! Last year I did a prep test and scored 720, with my verbal being the weaker side of the score. I studied SC for a few weeks and then on and off, but not very intensively. In the meantime, I switched jobs, where my current job requires less day-day math skills (previous job was lots of physics research). This year, I scored 720 again, but my verbal was much better, and my quant was weaker (I forgot certain formulas. Yikes!)! *Shame*

From what I have seen so far studying the Quant portion for GMAT... There is a huge tendency for the engineering mind to "solve the problem and show the solution". The variables x and y are engraved in your mind, and they just keep pulling you towards are full-proof solution. Well, Kaplan material suggested in 60 Day Study Plan has been very useful to point out how easy certain problems can be if you just do backsolving, or picking numbers... At first this makes you feel very uncomfortable. It feels...well just plain wrong... After a few days of Quant studying, I must say it's still not easy, but I must say that huge speed improvements can be gained, and you are less likely to make errors as there are less operations.

I am hoping to improve to 750+.

I am 2010 Teach For America Corp. Member in St. Louis, Missouri that teaches math at Roosevelt High School. I am planning on taking the GMAT this May and, hopefully, applying to business school in the fall.

I have been exploring this site over the past couple of days and it is an incredible resource! I love the support and information it provides and will definitely continue to refer to it as I study for the GMAT! I also really enjoy working in study groups, so if anyone in St. Louis is interested in meeting up to run through problems let me know.
