GMAT Score:620

by amit_mangal30 » Thu Mar 17, 2011 12:56 am
Hi All BTG frens,

Amit here, from Siliguri, India. Software Engg by education, entrepreneur by profession currently. Plan to apply for an MBA this year after I scored low (620) on the previous attempt, though I feel it had more to do with the state of my mind, which was not prepared to give the test. Anyways, now working again on the GMAT with the 60 day program from BTG, highly recommended to me by my sister (she's on day 39). I hope to get a score around 750 and apply this year.

Also about the last time, I feel I need to work on building stamina to sit for an exam for 4 hours on the trot. This was a major constraint with me the last time. Wish me luck and all the best to you all too. Keep Smiling :).

Nice meeting you Amit, and thanks for sharing that introduction!

With regard to test stamina--this is something that will come with time. Taking practice tests will help. Additionally, exercising regularly can help too; it's physically exerting (surprisingly) to stay focused for 3.5 hours for the GMAT.

Eric, Thank you for the support! :)

I am an engineering student doing my Computer science engineering (3rd year) .. Are there colleges that take fresh engineering graduates with a GMAT score without work experience ? Can you list few colleges under this category?

Regards,
jayashree :)

Most schools will consider an applicant, even if you don't have any work experience. This is a question better answered by our MBA Admissions Consultants (check out the 'Ask an MBA Admissions Consultant' forum), but off the top of my head, I recommend taking a look at programs like Tepper and Babson if you want to go down a tech/entrepreneur route (not sure what you're interested in doing).

Hi All,

I am Manoj Oberoi from New Delhi, India. I run my family business and I am planning on doing my MBA next year from one of the top schools in the US. I have taken the GMAT twice. 1)650(Q49 , V30) in 2009 2) 630 (Q50 , V26) in 2010. Its critical for me to score high - well above 700 since my GPA is very low. Its 2.8

Clearly my verbal sucks. I have been trying hard to improve on that front. On my previous two attempts, I self studied and did not rely on any courses. This time around, I have enrolled with the knewton course and have subscribed to the BTH 60 Day Study Plan. I plan on attacking the verbal content of Knewton during the 1st half of the BTH 60 Day Study plan which is dominated by Quant. Have also started to spend some good time on the BTH forums.

Hoping for the best!

Regards,
Manoj Oberoi

Hi everyone

I'm Shrini from Singapore. I'm giving the GMAT in June for the first time.

In a nutshell, I have five years of work ex in technology and banking and management seems the next logical step. I'm still shopping for schools now, trying to find a good cultural fit. On my GMAT preparations, I've taken a few sample tests (math and verbal) and I am growing comfortable with the format, though the AWA is something I still need to start on. It's been a bit scary to prepare through a pretty hectic work schedule, but hopefully I'll manage it. Fingers crossed!

Hi Everyone !

Its my pleasure to join such seriously active & informative community. Admins/Moderators/Experts/Fell comunity members are doing a terrific job here.... Kudos to all for maintaining such an exhaustive database to beat the GMAT exam & MBA in general.

Here is a small intro about myself:

I am a 31/male, Indian national. I did all my education from India and living and working in Europe from past 6+ years. I have done my UG in Electronics & Telecom Engineering with excellent grades. I was ranked no.1 in a class of 40 odd students.I completed my Masters ( M.Tech) in Telecom from one of the known university in India with excellent grades. I was honored university topper for my Masters.

I have got 8 years of work experience in Telecom / IT industry. Most of my work experience is in working in Europe as a permanent employee. My first 5 years of experience is mainly in Software Development and recent 3 years in working in interacting/working with several teams to get the work done and at the same time I am leading a small software development team of 4 engineers.

I am aiming to get an MBA degree from one of the top 10 B-schools and I'm sure that BeatTheGMAT forum will help me in terms of guidance & motivation.

Also, I hope to receive some valuable feedback on my profile from experts and fellow community members.

Good luck to all !

Regard,
Gmat_aspirant_2011

Hi all,

I am Kruthika, from an engineering background (BITS Pilani) with 2.9 years of work experience in the IT industry. I have always been keen on doing business, inspired by my father. So, I decided to give GMAT. I am planning to give GMAT around mid August this year.

Looking forward to a lot of interaction in course of time.. I have already started preparation, and I use Kaplan and MGMAT guides; OG of course is in the list.

I am just starting my journey. I hope all is well..
