It's a simple arithmetic problem

$\dfrac2{x+1}=\dfrac1{x-1}$

So, 2(x-1) = 1(x+1)

So, 2x - 2 = x + 1

So, x = 3

Correct ans is E

Solution:

Cross-multiplying, we have:

2x - 2 = x + 1

x = 3

Answer: E
