since I have already posted the links.... can't delete this post....
but this is what i just read - from Rron purewal

https://www.beatthegmat.com/life-on-mars-t58420.html

hi -- we have actually deactivated this question from our CATs, since one of our latest research project has revealed that no known OFFICIAL problem has ever asked explicitly for the tone of a passage.

Hi Arora,

Thanks for the update. As long as it is from Ron and stacey, we can bank on..
I was doing 1000 RC and found one question in it...
Below is d q...

3. Which of the following best describes the attitude of the author toward the samurai discussed in lines 11-16?

(A) Warmly approving
(B) Mildly sympathetic
(C) Bitterly disappointed
(D) Harshly disdainful
(E) Profoundly shocked

So, are these kind of attitude/tone kinda questions are not coming on GMAT?
I got this q wrong while solving. So, thought of asking.

Hey Adi...

Ron told that tone questions with a single adjective are out. but with two adjectives...
the questions are still in contention... and you must practice them!!

there are 2-3 pointer words or just a couple of sentences which give the tone...

my approach is
if the tone is the first question... I don't have a problem.

When I read a passage I have a feel of the passage whether its positive or negative, thats the best I can do...

For example for the answer choice u've given...I can see its a 2-3 pair...
A & B are positive and C,D&E seem to be negative.
with a rough tone of passage +ve.... i am sure its gonna be eitehr A or B.
