Anyone going on Sunday the 24th? My interview's at 11 AM. Lucky me, I get to fly out of Beijing during the Olympics, when ticket prices are through the roof :(

Undergrad - Harvard
Double major - Social Studies, East Asian Studies
GPA: 3.6
GMAT: 740
been studying in China for the past year, interested in disability.

Am I the only social sciences/sociology type person around here?

lack of interview overlapping gives me hope that they gave out <150 interviews.
My time overlaps with one of the previous posters.

FreyFrey, I'll be staying with a friend in Boston. I'll be there for a few days but I'll probably got to lunch on Friday- hopefully I'll see you. I'm excited to meet other applicants.

Lunch

by harvard2p2interviewee » Mon Aug 04, 2008 2:10 am
Hey all,

I suggest that everyone who tracks this forum just go to Spangler for lunch on the day of the interview wearing sunglasses or something that would make one easy to spot.

Spangler is pretty easy to find, it's probably where you would get lunch aside from walking to Harvard Square, and everyone loves the 'Men In Black' look!

Interview Preparation

by energie » Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:25 am
Hello People,
A final congrats to all who made it :)
It will be nice if we could meet each other at HBS but nicer if we make it to HBS, watsay?
I dont intend to be rude but what I mean to say is that if we could steer our discussions towards interview preps it might be more productive. I personally do not have much idea about interview preps right now as I based my research only to getting to interview till now, wasn't too optimistic.
My thinking is that HBS interviews are not generic crap but tailored to our application. If anyone has any ideas on any reading material or any consultant who is exceptional for HBS interview preps, please advise about it.

Please do not think about others as competition. We are our own competition, they liked us on paper, we need to represent that paper well, thats it.

Cheers

if anyone else is arriving to boston on the 17th, let me know, and we can meet up. i most likely won't be able to make it to the official 2+2 lunch, but i still am looking forward to meeting other applicants!

I'll be in town that weekend, but I'm not interviewing on Saturday. Are you from New Orleans?

My interview is at 4pm on Monday the 25th. Anyone on the 25th? Also, for those who aren't from the Boston area, where are you staying (i.e. hotel)?

I didn't know there were interviews on Monday that Monday- are you sure it's not the Sunday - just for your own personal scheduling?

Here's what a good friend of mine (just finished RC at HBS) told me:
The HBS admin staff will know your application very well, so they will ask specific questions about things you mention - don't be surprised. The best way to prepare is to know your application really well and be prepared to discuss why you are applying and why you think you are a good fit.

Also, make sure you know the school. Spend a lot of time on the website (should be recently updated) and think about why HBS. It will also show in your interview if you know a lot about the school. Everyone gets lots of random questions, so be ready for anything and stay flexible. It goes by quickly and most people think they go terribly, so no worries if you aren't sure how it is going.

ALSO ...

This site is helpful - there's a database with questions from actual interviews:
https://accepted.typepad.com/admissions_ ... rview.html

You can also buy a HBS interview guide from clear admit for $20.. I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Hope this helps everyone out!

Items to bring to interview

by soccer6 » Mon Aug 04, 2008 11:41 am
Should we bring anything to the interview? A copy of our resume? A pen and pad of paper?
