despite the fact that - i believe is the correct usage. hence A,B n C can be eliminated.

E - the number of people is singular. hence "are" is incorrect.

D - is the only best option.

My pick is D.

If you ask the Q what/who is "Despite the growing number of people who purchase plane tickets online" the answer is airline execs.

Hence A,B,C are wrong

As LG said the number of is always singular and E is wrond

2) The number of - Singular

I think A is right.

The key here is CONVINCED THAT.... if the word THAT is not used after CONVINCED.... the sentence doesn't make any sense.


That brings us down to options A and E. Since option E is using the plural ARE, we can eliminate that option and fix A as the only right answer.

the only choices that are consistence with the tense are A and C.
Present (are convinced)....will.

B,D and E use Present with conditional future. So cannot be correct.

Out of A and C.
C is not ver clear and also Since convinced is a reporting verb, the sentence requires "that".
