Although , it may be piece of cake for you , I got a doubt here.

In option A, the rounded value up-to thousandth is give, The thousandth value is 5 and hence the hundrth value will be increase by one , therefor .455 will become .46 and hence the result. and answer A .

As per my knowledge , if the last digit is either 5 or greater leads to the rounding and next number become one higher. eg . .457 after rounding to hundredth will become .46.

Because I got an incorrect answer , surly I in the wrong boat. Please highlight the mistake.

According to me the answer should be A.
From first statement, we can clearly conclude that x will be 0.46 after rounding to hundredth value
& it alone is sufficient unlike the 2nd one

But definitely we are doing something wrong.

Ist statement
It says when rounded to nearest thousand then the result is .455 , value of x could be .4549 or .4551

When x is .4549, Rounded to nearest 100th then it is .45

when x is .4551 , Rounded to nearest 100th then it is .46

In sufficient

2nd Statement thousandth digit is 5,

This statement Confused me, Question says What is the result when x is rounded to nearest 100th, Now we know that thousandth digit is 5 so, when rounded to nearest 100th , it will definitely be +1 for 100th digit, No matter what is the digit at 100th place.

We know the result must be +1 on hundredth digit, According to me it should be sufficient.

I just don't understand why they need the value of x from 1st statement...............??????

I didn't understand the below

Is it right? According to me it should be 0.46 only.

Thanks goyalsau, prachich1987. good link . Intialy, I though we have to round off from the last digit and keep rounding off until the intended digit.
