Congratulations on a brilliant score. I really admire you for writing the GMAT 3 times at the age of 44. Not many would do it.

I also want to say, as a fellow Indian, I'm thrilled that you were part of the Indian Army. Thank you for doing that for us, we are eternally grateful.

Also, lovely debrief, lots of great tips. I'm at the beginning of my prep at the moment, I don't think I have it in me to take the test so many times, so I really hope I ace it the first time!

Somebody PM'd me for a technique to improve accuracy in RC. My thoughts on the subject:-

It's a tough call! Improvement in RC is the hardest thing to do for most of us.....but the good news is it's doable. I strongly recommend the Powerscore RC Bible for strategy....it can be ordered on www.flipcart.com from where it will be delivered for free at your home add. Thereafter, do RC 99 & RC 1000, not to forget the RC in OGs & OG Verbal Supplements. After a while, you will start seeing a pattern in the answers....may not be as easy as I'm saying...but by practicing on these books you will gain immense experience and confidence. It may sound little odd, but you should practice again on RC 1000, time permitting, to cement your intuition on the official answers.

Moreover, get into the habit of taking notes, if you are not already doing so. That would force you to digest the material you are reading. It may be time consuming initially, but you'll get used to taking only short & crisp notes, which will improve your accuracy in the long run....never mind if you take long initially. You may not even need to take notes once you have mastered the technique. This is the best/the most proven technique recommended by the experts in the field. Don't let frustration rule your mind though, as you may not show improvement initially....you definitely will,in the long term....persistence pays. All the best for your preps!

The interview went off beautifully as I was fully prepared for any question! The adcoms were extremely pleased(apparently!). I'm quite positive & upbeat about the outcome. The result will be out in Nov.

Colonel given the tight schedule of Army what was your hourly average per day of studying.

Thank you so very much for this inspiring post. This post could not have come at a beter time this as I too the GMAT (rather fool hardily with not prep at all) and got a score of 450. I took the test because I had a deadline to fill for IIMA. So knowing fully that I was not prepared went ahead and took it. And now was contemplating that what next. But your story has powered me all back again and now I am going to set up my regimen back on track as suggested by you.
