Its a good thing that you have given yourself ample of time to study, to get started download 2 free mock test from www.mba.com They will help you to know about gmat and your strength and weaknesses .....

Once you know where you need to work and what type of questions are mainly tested you can start the homework.

Recommended book....

First to need books which will brush up your basics both in verbal and quant.

Kaplan premier With CD is a great way to start...Lot of practice questions 6 full length mock test.

In between if you feel that the concepts are difficult to understand they have math and verbal foundation books as well.

Also specially for Sentence correction i would recommend Manhattan SC With 6 full length tests.

Next is Official guide You must practice as much as you can from the official guide.

Remember no other publisher is as close as Gmat prep and OG to the real exam....

Develop a study plan and give yourself plenty of time to absorb next strategies....

I'm guessing the two mock tests are from the Free Test Prep Software from the MBA website right?

I am going to go ahead and order Kaplan...then OG...and then the SC book.

I´m just starting with preparing for the GMAT as well.
Currently I´m working my way through Kaplan 2012, which I can really recommend. It gives you a good overview of the basic principles of the GMAT and it´s questions, and I think it is a great help for getting into the topic.

I actually think that you would be better served if you began with the Official Guide. They have diagnostic tests at the beginning of the book. Those tests will allow you to identify your weakest areas, so you know what areas will require more time. Additionally, you are just beginning your prep, so one thing that you haven't encountered yet is that some test prep materials do not do a good job of mimicking the logic of GMAC. By beginning with the official guide, you will be able to tell which practice materials are giving you a good look, and which materials are teaching you how to answer their questions, but not necessarily how to answer GMAC's questions. The first time I took the GMAT, I studied on my own without a class, so I can tell you what methods tend to work and which methods don't. Let me know if you want me to share more.
