Wow! This is incredible - you are actually worrying about this?

I am sure there are better (and bigger) things to worry about on the test. However since you have opened this thread I couldn't resist adding my $0.02

1. If you are going to take your hand away from the scratch pad to input the answers, does it matter if you "take" it to the mouse or to the keyboard? I don't see how you can save 2 seconds.

2. You would need to utilize both your hands - in which case your left hand (if you are right-handed or vise-versa) would end up doing more work. So at best this could end up wasting sometime.

3. The keyboard might not be the one you use at home so your eyes are on the keyboard instead of the screen (where it should be). Again you might end up choosing wrong alphabets. I have no clue what an ALT + B or ALT + U do - maybe ends up canceling your scores

Arun, agree with u partially on the verdict. I had a good experience at home while I was giving the GMAT-prep on my laptop. I am right handed to I clicked on the answer and then the left hand could quickly jump to the alt+N and the other key. However, at the test center the keyboard could be in a sliding drawer much closer to a person's lap. So looking down and searching for the keys would counter the time advantage of using the shortcuts.
