The average of four numbers 12,y,39,76 is what percent of the sum of four numbers?

a. 12%
b. 20%
c . 25%
d . 32%
e . It cannot be determined from the information given.

Avg of 4 Numbers is always 1/4th the sum of numbers. Hence answer is C

Ideally it should be 25% but what about when the sum comes to zero. Say y = -127 then Sum = 0 and Average = 0. In this case the percentage is undefined.

So IMO E

If the problem is Easy Respect it, if the problem is tough Attack it

methodical solution :
always do this for such questions.

average of 4 nos = z% of sum of 4 nos

solve for Z

(12+y+39+76)/4 = z/100 * (12+y+39+76)

C

I must agree with shovan 0*12%=0*20%=0*25%=0*32%, hence E
