George was a 76 year old man who lived a mansion that was 4 stories tall. His neighbor's house is 2 stories tall. George's brother is 59, and owns a shack that has 1 story, and it's kitchen is 20 square feet. George is a pharmacist, and sells about 179 prescriptions a day. His brother is a doctor and deals with about 67 patients a day.Add George and his brother's age together. What is it?

600 people voted on a resolution, but after some discussion, the opponents were increased by 150%. The motion was then rejected by a majority two times as great as that by which it was formerly passed. How any voted for and how many voted against the initial resolution?

Case 1:

Total = 600 + Opponents.

Case 2:

Total = 600 + 1.5 Opponents.

Given, 1.5 Opponents = 2 (600)

Therefore, Opponents = 800 and Voters = 600.

let
voters who voted 'for' the resolution = x and
voters who voted 'against' the resolution = y

x+y = 600 and
The margin or majority = x-y (As the resolution was passed the first time)

voters who voted 'against' the resolution after the discussion = y + ((3/2)*y)
voters who voted 'for' the resolution after the discussion = x - ((3/2)*y)
The resolution was rejected. So, the majority = y + ((3/2)*y) - [x - ((3/2)*y)] = 4y-x

4y-x = 2(x-y)
4y-x=2x-2y
6y=3x
x =2y

x+y =600
x=2y
=> 3y=600 , y = 200 and x = 400

voters who voted 'for' the resolution = 400 and
voters who voted 'against' the resolution = 200
