No problem, it's my pleasure! :)

And glad to hear you are enrolled in the study guide--I'm sure you'll get a lot of use out of it. If you're seeking verbal books, check out the reviews of the following books here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/store/books#verbal-books

Good luck!

Today I wrote my GMAT :)
Scored less than my expectation. Still a good score.
710(Q-50,V-37)
I was going good in verbal. Good accuracy was there but took little more time. Hence in last 4-5 questions, I had to take guesses.
After consulting some gurus, I will decide whether to retake or not.
Let the juices flow :)

Hey Eric,
I was looking at your profile and you don't say where you ended up going to Business School at?
Or did you just start this website and not go to B-school?

Thanks for this site!

Hi bullshark,

You're welcome, I'm happy that you like our community! Our members are what make Beat The GMAT so special, and it's a privilege for me to be part of this community each day.

I did not go to business school. I applied, got into a great school, but at the last minute decided not to attend. At the time I was just not ready to give up on BTG, so I decided to hold off on my b-school plans. I may re-apply in the future. :)

All the best!

That's amazing! I've read the whole article and found it super useful. It also boosts your morale..

Great motivation!!

One simple question?
Would 1 hour a day be enough for a span of 3 months? for people that are newbies!!

Fantastic, I'm glad that you found my experience to be useful!

With regard to your question--I think that 2 hours/day is best, but 1 hour day can work if that's all you have. The trick is to be consistent--study every day, even if it's just for a little while. The consistency of study is the key to improvement.

Good luck!

Thank you for all the tips.

Do you happen to have a saved copy of Ursula's excel spreadsheet that you used? I am having trouble finding it.

Thank you very much for sharing all your experiences and tips with all of us.

I started my prep for the GMAT last week and my diagnostic was horrible (less than 400). However, I´m practing at least 2 hours a day during the week, plus weekends, plus Princeton class...hope that´s enough. I am trying to organize my schedule because I think I am doing a little bit of everything and that is making me confused.

Based on your first post, here is a summary of the main ideas that I am going to start using:

IDEAS:
1. 40 questions per day concentrate in each section
2. 10 Review questions from previous section
3. FLASH cards and review them every day
4. Online practice
5. Official Guide practice

Sections:
Reading comprehension
Sentence correction
Critical reasoning
Data sufficiency
Problem solving
AWA Essay
--by practicing with Official Guide (OG)

Suggestions:
TwinnSplitter: tackling each section
Ursula: Excel grid
Day 52 blog entry
PowerPrep and GMATPrep (online/free)

My weakness is VERBAL (as I am not a native English speaker). So I will concentrate on that. Any additional tips will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks again for your help!!!!!

-A

Hi Eric,

Need your guidance here..
I have scheduled my GMAT for 9th April.
I have been giving CAT's (GMAtPrep, MGMAT's) and have scored in the range of 630 - 680.

Although I have consistently performed well in Quant( scored 49 - 50 almost everytime), my verbal takes the back seat. I am not able to move up from 30 points.

I have been able to take my verbal from 23 to 30 but unable to take the score beyond 30.
Having 7 days in hand, I wanted to know if you can help me understand how i can gain a couple of more points in Verbal so that i can touch the target score of 700.

Any pointer would be greatly appreciated.

(Just to mention, I have completed OG 12 and Manhattan Verbal books from cover to cover)
