It's highly unlikely that the GMAC made a mistake. May I suggest the possibility that you did not memorize the question and the answers correctly?

Asking to cancel your score seems asking for trouble since you are not supposed to discuss the content of your exam with other persons.

well brother you seems to be in lot of anguish, hope u do well in gre. btw, what was ur prev score in actual gmat. also one thing is clear, participating in btg discussions seems more harm than help, on two account, first one is trying questions from several sources, may be they are doing more harm for official style content, as id rvifrnt gtom all thos , RC99, pc99, and in your case egmat. another people here are not sporty, as seen in that cr discussion, i do not find any problem with ur discussion, but that guy seems to be arrogant enough to make adverse note. it happens when people are not sporty.

another, there are lot many experts here, so members duscussion is understood to be trash, while actual purpose of such discussions couls as well be all type of discussions, I personally get pissed off when some idiot mentions *experts plz explain" or *only experts plz respond" as others are here to see commentry.

I will personnaly suggest you review harm done by your *egmat* exposure. From your discussion it seems you have relied a lot on them. I will particularly advice people here from refraining from *Indian origin* coaching approaches/institutes. For one, the GMAT coaching institutes in India are a failure, I have seen it in two big cities, Delhi and now in Bangalore. They do not get enough people on board and do lot of tricks to get *offsore* customers, fooling on several account. Their typical approach is CAT like which is an Pan Indian exam testing math english and logic in a crude manner, only intelligency being lot of uncertaintities, like in some year Quant will be super tough, another year verbal, and in yet logic portion(called DI here). These so called GMAT institutes are CAT based offsprings, mostly with association with an American brand in franchises, or individual one where a few 750+ guys are trying their chances, or a few independent houses like TIME or similar. The appriach is never like high scoring GMAT contents, but simple crude ways that does more harm than help.

There is no point in ranting. It will get you nowhere. Its in your best interest to accept the score with humility, and focus on your GRE. You could have easily missed a minor (or major) detail in the question. You will get nowhere with your claim.

Let it go. Move on.

What you should do is focus on your GRE and banish any thoughts about the GMAT until afterwards, if at all.

fyi, it seems people here don't know that there are avenues for challenging official gmat questions.

read here:

if you think the problem was faulty, that's where you should take the issue.

It seems poking nose in this thread is full with risk of hearing a few harsh word from you, but if it was your first gmat, and 4 month back ur natural abilities were 440, the 20 point increase is not as big an anamoly as you seems to project. further the kind of e-gmat, g-gmat, pc-99(i know it is rc-99) etc are bound to bring disasters.

Big organizations can not flaunt with their internal tools in a way to put targetted section of the audience in disadvantegious position, as they run on the risk of some one disclosing it out and then the federal courts asking for code and all that, if it can happen for the large code base of Microsoft the tiny code base of gmatprep algo is bound to go the same way, gmac wouldn't like to do that.

further they are happy to give the top 1% the score they want, it can be 1 in 100, 10 in 1000, 100 in 10000, 1000 in 100000, or 10000 in 1000000.

@Night reader,

What I see is, u have not really "prepped" smartly as the GMAT demands.

Last time its 420 & now its 440.. SO I guess u need to join a consult a private "qualified/succesful/authenticated" GMAT tutor /institute & take his /their help with humility.

Going by ur data points 4 months is nothing for GMAT prep given ur "potential-gap" when it comes to standardized way of testing. We Indians are still slogging /kicking our ass for verbal. hahahhaha!!

I dont see any point in arguing against GMAC algorithms or their questions. Dude, GMAC pays thousands of dollars to prepare their questions.

Plz concentrate on GRE & forget this mishap!!

All the very best!!

@Maihuna

Bro, I have been a humble follower of ur posts from my beginning days. I partially accept with ur "critics" on the prep institutes of our desi-start ups. But Coming to e-gmat, its really authentic & a qualified prep methodology for SC .

Becox of e-gmat I have immensely benefited. e-gmat is a US (Arizona) based online prep for SC.

Actually, my understanding wrt to GMAT prep is , there is no one book /institute/tutor can do magic for a 700+. Its all about building simple fundamentals in a strategic manner. After learning them, one needs to fine tune /practice as per GMAC demands when it comes to "application" of the "learned"fundamentals.

@Ron,

Thx for the nice input!!

Bro, thanks, I really do not know anything about e-gmat, but I am afraid trying any new avenues. My observation regarding new matrerial is generic not specific to critic e-gmat, hope u understand my point.

If you ask me, for a good verbal prep, exhaustive prep on LSAT material(RC&CR) and good books on practical writing approaches (like some business grammar, general guidelines in documentediting) on and above MGMAT SC's and OG's should be a good fit. Though I am not competent to comment on this area as my last official score was only 37 in verbal and untill I hit a 44 or more, no point putting expert opinions on such usage.
