From 1965 on, Yugoslavia’s standard of living has soared, but unemployment and prices too.

(A) but unemployment and prices too
(B) and also unemployment and prices
(C) but so have unemployment and prices
(D) and so also unemployment and prices
(E) but so did unemployment and prices

Ans : C

I picked C, however, on reading the other choices, I felt E was close, except E has 'did'. I am not able to grammatically eliminate E. Can someone pls explain why E is wrong??
Karen?? Stacey ??

Thanks

Tense of the Stem is present perfect -"Has soared"

and hence we need present perfect for having similar effect- Have provides that- "soared" is implicit

Additonally, we dont use "And" to join a main clause to a fragment

so, options are eliminated on basis of usage of correct cordinators and tenses

Can't be E because "did" is incorrect verb tense, "have" is parallel with "has soared"
