Hi Everyone,

I'm planning on taking the next month to read and comprehend materials that are GMAT-like. Upon reading numerous reviews, everyone says that the 'Economist' and 'Scientific American' are great suggested works to start reading through. Not only will it provide a good baseline to succinct reading, but the materials helps in business school.

Has anyone used the Economist or other magazines as a catalyst to improving overall reading comprehension? What were your experiences? Please provide details including (1) How long it took you to 'hook' on to the articles, (2) What you noticed while reading these articles, (3) Did you have a dictionary, paper, and/or pencils handy, (3) How much of each article could you go through?

I do want to read the Economist daily because frankly the material is what shapes us to becoming better global leaders.

Sincerely,

Piyush A.

Hi Piyush,
I have been a regular reader to The Economist,Scientific American Journal,Wall Street Journal since 9 months.
My experiences before and after this task:
* I was very poor to understand anything in english
* Less confidence to express my views in english
Now I am very happy to say that reading these articles is a big asset for everyone.

Now I am able to understand easily from above mentioned papers.
Like these papers on Facebook and start to read daily 2 articles a day.
Noted down the unknown words. Start learning.
IPhone/iPad, merrimam,Cambridge dictionaries are good.Install any of them in your phone, add the difficult words in favourites.
Practice this daily, You can notice the improvement with in one month.
All the best.
