In what year was Ellen born?
(1) Ellen’s brother Pete, who is 1 1/2 years older than Ellen, was born in 1956.
(2) In 1975 Ellen turned 18 years old.

I´m confused.

I agree that (2) provides an answer, having the age om certain year, we can deduce in which year Ellen was born (1975-18= 1957)

(1) Too provides the same data, through an indirect approach, giving Pete´s info. If Pete is 211 (weird) years older than Ellen and Pete was born in 1956, then Ellen will be born (?) in 2167. Or is it that you have to take into account the exact "date" in order to know if Pete is going to turn age?

(1) Ellen’s brother Pete, who is 1 1/2 years older than Ellen, was born in 1956.

If Pete was born in lets say January of 1956 then Ellen would have been born in July of 1957

If Pete was born in December of 1956 then Ellen would have been born in June of 1958.

So we don't know if she was born in 1957 or 1958.

IMO B

Option 1:

PETER CAN BE BORN IN ANY HALF OF 1956..
So if born in first half

Then she is born in 1954

So if born in Second half:

Then she is born in 1955

Insufficient

Option 2:

1975- 18years.. 1957 ...
