I am a current Msc in Finance student at ESSEC, so I can give you a few indications on the program to help you decide if it suits your profile and what you are looking for. I can't tell you much about EDHEC though.

Personally, I found the one-year program largely sufficient. We had 4 trimesters each consisting with 5-7 courses. It is very complete and you can chose the class you are interested in.

It is an excellent program if you want to work in consulting. In the end, it does not really matter if you don't have a strong experience in finance or consulting. The school provides you with professional career coaches that help you prepare you CV, cover letter, and job interviews. Plus, you have access to a very important network of alumni.

At the beginning of the program, every foreign students are offered French classes to help you understand the basics. You then have the choice to keep on following French classes (more advanced) the rest of the year. Yet, all the classes for this program are offered in English.

In terms of job prospects, most of us found internships or jobs in consulting or investment banking in HSBC, Rothschild, Barclays, DC Advisory, EY, Deloitte, BNP or JP Morgan.
