x+w+y = ?

by Brent@GMATPrepNow » Thu Jan 01, 2009 8:05 am
If w, x, y are positive integers, then w+x+y =

(1) 5 < w < 3x < 4y < 16

(2) 2w = 4x = 3y = x+9

f w, x, y are positive integers, then w+x+y =

(1) 5 < w < 3x < 4y < 16

y can only be 3
x can only be 3

5 < w < 9< 12 < 16

But W can 6,7 and 8

INSUF

(2) 2w = 4x = 3y = x+9

This can be solved for X and we can find the other terms as well.

SUF

Hence, B
