What is x equal to?

(1) LCM of x and 18 is 36.

(2) HCF of x and 18 is 2.

1) Is not sufficient [ 4 and 18 have LCM of 36 so does, 12 and 18]

2) is not sufficient [ 4 and 18 have HCF of 26 so does 14 and 18]

Combining

LCM*HCF = x*18

36*2 = x*18

prod of two no=LCM * HCF of those no's
hence we need bth

St.1) LCM of x and 18 is 36. so x can be 4,12,36 or some other number too. as 18 = 2x3x3 ====not sufficient
St.2) HCF of x and 18 is 2 so x can be some even number ....like 2, 10 ,14, 26....
combined) x.18 = 36 . 2 --> x= 72/18 = 4
suff..
