Hi Guys,
Anybody knows if there is a word limit for the AWA type questions if yes what is it and how long should be an optimum AWA assay answer. Sorry if its a repeat post..New to the forum and still navigating through.

Hi Prashant864p,

The "short" answer to your question is NO, there is no word limit (nor is there a "minimum" number of words that you need to type).

The scoring "scale" for the AWA does include a category that is a measure of your "depth" or "thoroughness" though, so you have to make sure to write enough to properly communicate your ideas. This does NOT mean that you should write long sentences. It DOES mean that you should back up your ideas with some logical, organized evidence.

Hi Prashant864p,

That's a great question with an easy answer: NO, there is no limit to the number of words. Of course, there are practical limits to the number of words in your writing, for example the amount of time you have to do your analytical thinking, and to actually do the writing.

GMAT Prep Now has five free video lessons on the Analytical Writing Assessment section of the exam. It answers the little questions about things like word count, as well as the big questions, about things like, "How do I generate points for the argument essay?"

The AWA is the first task you will have on test day, and it's an opportunity to build confidence not only for that section, but the rest of the exam.
