I don't know if we already have this topic...but I'd like to do a poll on people's opinions of the best admissions consultant. I know we have something similar for GMAT prep courses so I think it'd be great if we had one on consultants. Please feel free to elaborate in a responding post along with your vote.
I know there are many others...if a consultant isn't listed, please select "Other" and post who it is and why.
Thank you all!

Yay, a vote from someone! Whoever you are, would you care to expand on your experience?
Did I post this in the wrong area? Not sure why I'm getting such few responses...

You may have difficulty getting responses because it is such a personal experience. I would suggest that you look at websites and talk to a few consultants before making a decision. Also, think about what you need (help understanding the process? strategy help? hourly essay review? GMAT help?). I am a consultant with Veritas and I think our team is fantastic (but, of course, I am biased!). You may also want to look at whether or not the company has specialists who worked with admissions at the school(s) you are targeting. This isn't a deal breaker, but, it can be helpful to get more specific, first-hand insight!
And, as you'll see on sites like this, there are many consultants who have great advice. I learn from all of them!
Good luck!

Thanks, Jessica!
I'm already doing that...I've interviewed several (including Veritas) and am still deciding.

Where's the option for "none"? Just kidding. While I didn't use an admissions consultant I definitely can see the value that type of service could provide certain individuals. While teams of admissions consultants probably are great since they have people who have specializations in various schools and backgrounds, I also sort of like Alex Chu(sp?) from MBA Apply. I don't know the guy but I think he's pretty funny and insightful from what I've seen him post no various forums.
Oh and whoever the consultant is behind the Essay Snark blog (https://essaysnark.blocked/), I'd hire them in a second if I needed a consultant. That blog is awesome and that person or persons knows their stuff.

Is it possible to put a sticky on this so I don't have to keep bumping the post...? I think it'd be a good resource...

I'm not sure you'll get too many responses and here's why: the vast (and by vast I mean probably 99%) majority of people who use admissions consulting services will only use ONE consultant. Given this, it's kind of hard to say which consultant is the best, simply because people don't use more than one.
I could probably tell you which Ben & Jerry's ice cream is the best, cause I can afford to try a bunch of flavors. However, consulting is expensive, so I doubt anyone will just try a lot of "flavors."
Also, note that at least in one respect, admissions consulting is pretty similar to ice cream: it's about personal taste. I'll probably like chocolate flavors a lot, while you may prefer vanilla. The same goes for consulting: I may instantly click with someone, while you might find them less convincing as a consultant. This is a really personal business!
I think it would be wisest to set up free consultations with some people and decide on one consultant based on your fit with one consultant or another!

The purpose of boards like this is to help each other with honest opinions about any subject. Many people use consultants so why so few replies?? I am looking for a good consultant also and really do not know what to do as I cant just rely on raving reviews on their own sites. I contacted few firms but of course they "are the best in the industry" and so on. Consultant's fee is not only a considerable investment, it will be detrimental if the wrong one is hired. Negative results plus waste of money, opportunity g o n e. Or ruined....
C'mon, people! Just few sentences-who did you use and what do you think-would be nice, to say the least.

Hi,
I can share my experience, i worked with Rahul from mbadream.in , he helped with my application strategy, essays and interview . I got in top 30 schools and had two admits with scholarships. My full marks to him for his support. Moreover, it was refreshing to find someone who truly cared for your career growth. Rahul's suggestions were incisive and well researched. My experience is a testimony that aspirants should speak for consultation and school shortlisting, when they start their journey for mbadream

I had heard about mbadream.in and Rahul from a senior in my College who made it to a top ranked US Bschool. After speaking to Rahul in the free initial consultation, i was almost sure that i will be able to achieve my goals this application cycle of fall 2013. With Rahul's constant support and his ability with articulating the why mba story, i have two admits from Top 25 US bschools and one canadian school with scholarships. i recommend applicants for next cycles should get in touch with rahul, mbadream.in before they start their Bschool quest.
