My take on this.
The question is 'How symbiotic stars differ from other binary systems'. The key word is 'Differ'.
Difference occurs between one subject/object with other(s). So look at the answers and eliminate the ones which are absolute and not relative.
We can eliminate B, C, E.
What leaves us with A & D.
The first line of the passage which reads ' A tiny fraction of binary systems..' indicates that it's not so common. We can eliminate D as well.
That leaves us with option A.

I'll go with Option A.

The passage talks about Symbiotic stars. Generally the author is positive about the main subject/object. So we can eliminate option B.
Also this question is a general/generic question and so the answer has to be generic. So we can eliminate A, D & E.
That leaves us with the option C.

OA 1 A 2 C

additional questions (attached) related to passage could be tried

Though few may think it is a badass question, I feel that this is v nice and truly resembles an actual gmat passage.
