Which college should I apply on the day of writing GMAT exam

Hi All,

I am gonna take up GMAT exam on 27th of this month. Can anyone please help me with the colleges I should apply on the exam day.

My expected Score: 600-630
GPA: 2.7
B.E(Electronics and Communications Engg)
Experience: 5years

Can anyone please suggest some colleges?

Hey Wilson,

A better question is do you have any schools in mind? Generally, you'd have a short list going into the day and then you'd send your scores to those programs.

However, if you don't know yet or don't know exactly how you will do, it really doesn't matter. You could pick 5 random ones or not pick any at all. The way applications work is that they ask for you to self report your score and, in some cases, scan in a copy of your unofficial score report. If you get in, then you'll need to order an official report ($25).

There isn't any consequence if you don't send your scores or send them to schools you end up not applying to.

So, have you got any schools in mind?

Hi Bavik,

First of all, thanks a lot for your response.

I really understand your point. But I want to forward my scores to the colleges, which would accept my score of 600-630. So, the answer to your question is "No, I don't have a list as if now and I really don't know how to make one" :( :(

Can we trust the ranking available over the internet. I am not sure. I have a normal profile, so I really need to work on my LOR. How can i filter out the colleges? How can I shortlist colleges in which I have a good chance.

Please Help!!!

Ahhh...I see, you're trying to select schools in general. The GMAT score submission question is really just secondary.

Well if that's the case, then I need quite a bit more info!

1) what kind of work experience do you have?
2) do you have any extracurriculars or community involvement
3) why do you want an MBA?

In other words, can you share more details about your profile in general?

Hi Bhavik,

Here are my details

1. 5 years experience in Software Industry. Currently working as a Senior Software Engineer and handling a team of 5 Engineers.
2. Have won several sports awards in School and University. Active member of Youth for Seva, Hyderabad.
3. From the school days, I have always been interested in management. I was the captain of my section and went on to become the Head of the school. I use to organize all the events in College, from funding raising to Anchoring the event.(I wonder if all this would matter, but these small things really taught me some important lessons of life). I want to start up my own company one day. I have the technical background and have the managerial skills. I feel MBA would give me a fine touch to both these qualities and also would make my profile stronger when I reach out to people with my ideas. (I know I have to do far better than this when a college asks me Why I want to an MBA :) :) )

Hey Willy,

Thanks for the additional info! Your leadership experience and involvement at the undergrad level are definitely great. I'm about to give you an incredibly frustrating response - fair warning.

1) Don't send your score report to any schools
2) Rock the GMAT
3) Set up time to chat with me by signing up here

I know you wanted to send your score report to schools but at the moment, it's not worth it. The school selection discussion is more art than science on the best of days and without a GMAT score, it's simply too nebulous. Even with a range, it makes 0 sense for me to give you target programs. On one hand, you might score much higher or lower and then it becomes a useless exercise.

I hope you don't hate me for saying that but it really is the best path forward!
