Some persons, experts advise us to find an assumption before we go to answer choices when we find an weakener or strengthener. The following article advise us to do so.

But, in the gmatprep books, we are not advised to do so.

I see a problem

if we find an assumption, there is possibility that the assumption we find is not the assumption
on which the weakener is based and we do not see the match. Of course, in many cases, the assumption we find matches with the assumption on which the weakener is based and we have a high satisfaction and confidence.

However, even if I do not see the math between the assumption we find and the assumption on which the weakener is based, I see that if we find out an assumption or try to do so, we can understand the argument/problem better and attack the answer choices better. I see the correctness rate increases when I try to find an assumption in advance.

I thing that, in any case, I should try to find an assumption before going to answer choices in all assmption based questions.

I wish you, members, experts to comment on my strategy, comment on the difference between 2 sides. One side recommend to find an assumption in advance. The other side do not recommend to find an assumption in advance.

Kaplan verbal workbood recommmend us to try to find an assumption in advance.

Princeton books do not advise us to try to find an assumption in advance.

This point is important because it is the trategy of attacking most of CR questions

There are only 2 thing which make us fail on the test, mode of attack and knowlege. because We understand all the explanation of a questions, we have good knowlege already. If we fail, the reason is we do not have good mode of attack, skill to work on a problem, the skill which can be learned in a few weeks.
