650 (49Q, 30V) in second attempt

Education:
1. UG in top tier Indian engineering college
2. MS in business management in uk immediately after engineering

2 yrs of work exp before application and 3yrs by the time I join

Work profile:
Big 4 strategy consulting profile
Joined as trainee, promoted to analyst and again promoted to consultant in 1 1/2 yrs

Have decent extracurriculars and leadership activities

Targeted universities:

A definite must among:
1. Cornell
2. Tepper
3. Anderson
4. Marshall
5. Darden
6. Ross
7. Ohio

Dream universities:
1. Harvard
2. Stanford
3. Sloan
4. Yale
5. Berkeley

Which among the definite must and dream universities can i target with the score and profile?? Which seems more realistic??? Please let me knowww!!!

Current work exp: Consulting
Future ambition: entrepreneurship

Cool profile. I feel you will get into your dream universities too with your work profile though your GMAT score is less. But it will be a very hard fight with your dream universities.

Based on you score it seems like Marshall and Ohio seem more likely. Unfortunately chances of getting in your dream Universities seem bleak.
However if you can pull up a higher GMAT score your chances would improve.

Nobody said that dreams will be easy to mold into reality... I think you should apply to Sloan as your best bet in the 'dream' category.

Why?
- Sloan has a very strong entrepreneurship push (as does Stanford).
- Your consulting role will add to your effort if it is supported by any signs of entrepreneurship that you have exhibited.

Questions?
- Can you be a bit more specific about the college you went to?
- Maybe it is me, but I see this as your biggest hurdle... you already have a degree in business management. Why would you do an MBA after this considering there is considerable overlap in the two? Justifications?

I think you stand a very good chance in your targeted colleges to get in. Bon chance!

Took the gmat for the last time today! Scored 740 (Q 49 V 40)

Am guessing this means I get to apply to the dream universities :)

Hey Preetee,

I am sure you got very good score. Its more important how your overall profile looks like and how your work, reco and essays will differentiate you from the rest.

I am sure most of the universities are within the reach with your current score. Out of the list I would apply to Tepper, Ross, Darden, and one of your dream university

Harvard: If you have PE or very strong experience in leadership
Stanford: If you started some company
Sloan: Technology + Entrepreneurship
Yale: Not sure
Berkeley: Tech

Hey thanks for the advice! I do have some good leadership experience. My goal is getting down to family business soon... so preference is on applying to more entreprenuerial focussed schools such as stan, sloan, anderson, berkley eytc..

Obviously if one had started a company then the chances into stan are high! But family business being the goal, would it improve chances? Yes, I have helped in the functioning of the business.
