When to give GMAT ?

by Lifetron » Tue Jan 08, 2013 4:05 am
I finished my UG on may 2012. I started working by sep 2012. Now, I am planning to give my GMAT by aug/sep 2013. So, that I can re-take if I don't get a good score. I thought I would start applying to colleges by the start of 2014. Is this advisable ? Do you suggest any alternative ?

Hello,

It sounds like you are planning to apply by Round 2 2014, is that correct? I'd suggest that you take the GMAT by May/June, so that you can retake the exam before September (if necessary). This will free you up to focus just on essays/applications during the fall.

Good luck!

Hi Mili,

Thanx for the suggestion. Actually I 've jus started workin, I 've like 5 months of work-ex. So, when I apply by the start of 2014, I 'll jus have nearly 1.5 years of work-ex. Is that ok ? I 've heard that it is not sufficient to get into some good college. What do you think ?

Hi,

Yes - that is a pretty low in terms of years of experience. Typical candidates have 3-5 years of work experience before they apply for an MBA. So, you might want to wait in light of that.

Good luck,
Mili
