What is the smaller degree angle between the minute-hand and hour-hand of a clock when it strikes 1:50 in there?
(A) 90
(B) 105
(C) 115
(D) 125
(E) 130

edited to fix error

each hour is 30 degrees but at 1 hr 50 min hour hand is closer to two by 30+ 50/60 * 30
each minute is 6 degrees

at 1:50, 55 degrees right of 12 and 60 degrees left of 12

55+60=115

edited to fix error that did not account for movement of hour hand to be closer to 2
silly mistake

At 1:00 The small angle is 30 degree

in 1 hour

hour hand moves 30 degrees and
minutes hand moves 360 degree

Therefore in next 50 minutes

hour hand moves 25 degree and
minutes hand moves 300 degree


At 1:50 the small angle is 115 degree.

Angle in degree = 6[ X - (11/12) M ]
X = 5, M = 50

Angle in degree = -245
Bigger angle in degree = 245 ( -ve indicates that minute hand ahead of hour hand)
Smaller angle in degree = 360 - 245 = 115
