Well,
I am MBA and GMAT aspirant(atleast for few more weeks) and full time web programmer esp php coder.
I think this forum uses the forum web apps called phpbb....
any way i have been trying to participate in discussion here and seen some other similar forum as well.
I think this forum is great and has great potential.(thanks for it)
I just to want to provide a suggestion(pragramatical) which i think will make the forum better (better than all the rest) and easier for users.
Most of the gmat question has five options
so after the user ask some question and give 5 options with some query
what if ,we write our answer in a box(A,B,C,D,E) rather than writing freely in textbox as now when we answer the question ,(may be explanations still may be written freely in textbox....with just choice letter in box)
and the user may select OA after sometime or does so during question entry and selects to show it after some time
(the correct answer is option:...)
Then when the OA is selected, the user's answers turn to either right/wrong answers
and it is added to profile of users like thanks now
Like this user has 60 rights out of 100 and so on
(which will tell lot about the user....his/her progress....)
and one can corelate to it with his actual GMAT score as well later....
Since i am programmer and i have seen the code of phpbb ,i think it should not be big job programatically alteast.....and will make things better as well
what about that?
just a suggestion
Whats about putting box to enter answer and keep stats?

Thanks frank1, this is a really neat idea. You are correct that we're using phpBB.
Would this be something you could help us build?

well, administrator thanks for considering it.beatthegmat wrote:Thanks frank1, this is a really neat idea. You are correct that we're using phpBB.

I would love to do any thing for the betterment of this forum.I use to have forum similar to this(not gmat/gre) in phpbb 2 long time back. But we use to get lots of spams so we moved to vbulletin.
I am thinking of it but actually i want to any how complete my GMAT first. It has been really distracting me from my work and my masters misson is not getting started with out gmat score. So this time i have decided no programming for 1 month and all gmat....lol...
I have started thinking over it but i think it is going to take time as i will be busy in gmat so if you have other options please look in to those as well ,may be going into phpbb forums and asking if there are any such mod my be of help or may body might be interested in modifying some current survey and quiz mod to meet these requirements and if finally if nothing works then i think i will be working in it.
Actually thing is ,if i start thinking about programming again ,because of my work load i think i will forget about GMAT so .....
i hope you do understand.
Once again thanks for considering it.
I will think over it whenever i have a free time but please keep on looking at other faster and better options if you have any.
thanks

No worries--PLEASE focus like a laser in completing your GMAT first, and maybe we can discuss later.
In any case, it's definitely a cool suggestion. I'll pass this along to my business partner (the tech guy) and we'll discuss/see whether we can get this onto our feature roadmap.
Thanks again for the ideas and please keep them coming!
