What should I study? Seeking Advice

Hi I need some advice in what should I study in order to improve my GMAT score:
English is my second language.
Toefl ibt = 85
I need a 500 with 50 percentile in both Verbal and Quant.

5 months of study:
Gmat prep(first attempt) 200
Actual GMAT 17 31 410
800score 34 29 530
800score 28 32 510
Actual GMAT 18 36 460
800score 18 30 400
ManhattanGMAT 27 36 530
GMAT prep 18 30 400
Actual GMAT 17 33 430

My weaknesses are vocabulary, grammar and Speed. Sometimes I think I got the CR and RC problems right but it's an entirely different story. I have been studying grammar and RC strategies to improve the Verbal part but it has not move at all. I already took a course twice(Veritas Prep). I called Veritas and their answer is pay for tutoring or do the quizzes to see your weaknesses. I'm just don't making any progress. Now that I did not enter to the course that starts on August 8 2011, I have more time to study.

I need a reinvention on my study schedule and strategies . What do you guys recommend?

Hello,
When you're scoring below 500 it's a good idea to really cement the basics before you take a lot of tests. I think one of the best books for sentence correction is Manhattan GMAT's SC book. Once you go through that (perhaps a couple times) you will surely see some improvement in your verbals score.

For the Reading comprehension- one of the most important things to do is just read everyday. Two good ways you can do this is either by reading an official guide passage(s) or by reading online news articles like the op-ed section in the new york times (nytimes.com) Read more here- https://www.standardizedtests.org/conten ... on-gmatgre

For the math section it's all about the basics. Make sure you really know the theory (go back over the veritas books that you've done), then move on to doing tons of questions (go section by section. That is, work on Number property questions, then fractions questions, then percents etc... etc...) After you've done a bunch of questions (and reviewed them!) then do some practice tests (GMATPrep or ManhattanGMAT)
